Gotta agree. Although I prefer the standard Sub (no date), either are iconic staples.

I could care less....
My one Rolex is a 2015 bought 116610LN. I always wanted a Submariner Date and bought it when it was financially safe for me to do so. Six years long and I still can't believe I own it. I didn't buy it to fit in, I bought it because of how it makes me feel. |

I was just cleaning my Sub 114060 and was thinking that is pure perfection.
Timeless perfection. |

My thoughts when I saw it; we all know it's copied but it's interesting to see a number of them in one shot.

The discussion could be had that it is the iconic Rolex watch. If you took a vote the Submariner would get mine. I also understand the DJ and the DD and to a lesser extent the Daytona. As a fan of almost everything Rolex and with more than 30 years of ownership in the brand the Submariner is it for me. I started with a SS Submariner and will always be there no matter what other watches I own.

While I am not disagreeing with you, OP simply said "so iconic", he did not say his sub date was "the most iconic". Perhaps in the title I guess. I think both are equally iconic personally.
