I actually had more real nice boots to begin with. As the saying goes you can do more with a boot than you can a shoe. How can you not like a real great boot? LOL The thing is I like to think even when it comes to boots, casual shoes to even include boat shoes that I just simply have a passion for real nice footwear. Heck even when it comes to work type looking boots that go well with jeans I enjoy a great pair of Vibergs. When it comes to handsewn Ranger Mocs its Rncourt or Quoddy. I just like and like wearing real nice footwear. Cordovan, Calf, Suede, and various other leathers.

Viberg, you'd have a problem finding anything better in this genre.

Rancourts, Quoddy, and Oakstreet Bootmakers Great footwear that's a helluva a lot better than tennis shoes.

My oh my, you have a fantastic collection...
I rarely wear tennis shoes. All but one pair in the shoe closet were my stepson's. I will have to look into some of the deck shoes you speak of. Quoddy? I'll be checking them out soon. |

I suggest taking a look at Rancourt as well. Both offer custom options, of which Rancourt has much better range of options both custom and ready made. Also Rancourt has the option of getting a pair try on pair if ever in doubt. There is a deposit but it'll go towards your first pair once they have been returned.

Love this pic Dan. I do not wear suits as much as I once did so loafers and deck shoes are my main stays. Oh and the Alden's arrived on Friday. Thanks for all the help. ![]()

Great pictures. I'm a big fan of Rancourts. I used to live in Portland, Maine not too far away from where they make the Rancourts.

Fabulous, for extremely casual shoes they're my favorites.

What is better in a loafer fit, a bit snug or a bit loose (heel comes out fairly easily)?
Great shoe pics - love 'em! :) |

I try not to stick with one brand or designer. Alden, Angelo Galasso, Berluti, Cole-Haan, Florsheim, Gucci, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Prada. I spent an hour at Crockett & Jones in NYC trying one some loafers. I was impressed with the Bury line of loafers but didn't pull the trigger.

How many of you are into shoes... (Dress Shoes)?
Close ups of the Angleo Galasso and Berluti. All of them are well worn yet hold up incredibly well. While at Berluti, they were patina-ing 30 year old Andy loafers and they looked as good as new.

I'm from Northamptonshire so I had the shoe disease although a lot less now. Village I grew up in had six shoe factories on it's own. Everyone knew someone who's Mum or Dad made shoes. I used to live in an old shoe factory, in fact lots of mates still do as so many got turned into funky apartments in the last 10-20 years.
Used to have about 25 pairs all from the Northamptonshire makers, all different styles but down to about 12 now and I only wear them when working at client sites, all quite boring traditional styles now. I just don't wear smart shoes "out" anymore, well not smart expensive one's anyway as been there done that, had them ruined on the dancefloor too many times. Actually had to throw away my favourite Barker boots a week or so ago as after having them rebuilt three times the leather was just too thin now to last onto new soles. 16 years they "lasted", sorry pun intended. John Lobb are the absolute best, no question. Edward Green a bit behind then all the others like C&J, Trickers, JW, Barker, Church's, Loake, G&G are on a level behind. |

Of course there are other brands and I don't think anyone has even mentioned Vass yet.

Of course no English shoemaker list is quite complete without mentioning Alfred Sargent.

Try LOAKE. British handmade shoemakers. Superb quality in good price. My company has been retailing these for a while.

Just make sure your purchasing the right line of Loake. The 1880 line tends to be their better line and at one time these were still being manufactured in England where the majority of their other shoes where not and as such where not as good of quality.
