Good point, it does look uber clean for being 13 years old. However, lighting can play weird tricks and not show all the marks.

Would be cool to see a wrist shot.

The lightbox photo was about 2 years ago, but I can assure you there is wear on the watch.. I have a good 'dent' and scratch on the side of the case from a camping trip.

Wrist shot as requested.

That is a very cool story. Kudos to your CEO for being, what sounds like, a fantastic manager. Plus, it sounds like he has impeccable taste.

Thank you everyone for the comments.

So back to the original question that brought me back to this forum - I want to service the watch because it's running a little fast. When given the option to polish the case and bracelet, should I have that done? From my research, the dent in the case won't get fixed, but all the bracelet wear, especially the clasp, would be nice.. but will the polishing work take away from the sharp edges the case current has?

Looks great. If it was my LV, I wouldn't have any polish done. I'd elect to service it and that's it. That's a very nice reference and you should try to keep it as original as possible.

Just have the movement serviced...everything stripped down and cleaned. Skip the polishing...no need, and that watch looks fantastic as is!

I have read stories from other TRF members complaining that even though they requested RSC NOT to polish their timepiece it came back polished anyway as if RSC just completely ignored them.
Is there a danger this may happen here, and even worse, would they replace that original flat 4 bezel with a regular version?
Be extremely clear if you send the watch for service exactly what you do and don't want doing.

The RSC here in Japan that I took one of my Rolex in for service. Me, "Please don't polish it." Them, "Sorry sir but we have to polish it as your Rolex represents our brand when it is out there , so our regulations insist that it be polished." "It has to leave here looking good."

Me, "Light polish only please."

As far as the bezel being swapped that they shouldn't do unless it is approved by you. But who knows. Yea be careful.

NO RSC!!! Send it to an independent to be serviced! They will only do what you want done. They will not polish unless you say so. Since you are on west coast consider Vanessa at Jewelers on time. She is an active TRF member here

Thanks for the recommendation. I will look into that shop.

Before I started reading this forum, I thought RSC was the no-brainer answer for service location. I have learned there are many capable independent shops that can service my watch. Let's be honest here, it's 'just' a submariner. No crazy complications or anything.

If people have other recommendations for independent shops, I'm happy to look into them.

Who may I ask gave it to you and is there a story behind it all?

I note you don't have the Sub Anchor as part of your kit.
Mine had the anchor as well.
Are these 16610 LV supposed to come with an anchor because I bought one from the AD and it did not come with one , spoke to one of the sales staff a few weeks later who also confirmed this but gave me one anyway.

My brother in law bought one and he never received the anchor even after asking for it ?

I believe a few years after the LV was introduced Rolex stopped including the anchor with the submariner. I want to say sometime in late 2006 or in 2007 is when the anchors disappeared.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think all Subs were supposed to have an Anchor as part of the mandatory kit around that time as the Anchor was still currently available. It was an expectation that one got a Sub Anchor, but I don't know if they were specifically shipped with the watches.
This was my first and last purchase of a new Sub and we didn't see much stock down here in OZ, so being a special model I suppose my dealer naturally made sure they threw everything in with the kit.

It's also possible the Anchors were like the modern watch boxes now and subject to what the dealer had in stock at the time?
So I assume your dealer didn't have any Anchors in stock at time of purchase.
Somebody who worked at an AD at the time may be able to shed further light on the subject.

Regardless, It's still possible to purchase an Anchor on line.
Just make sure it's the correct vintage(last edition) should you choose to go down that path.

It was around late 2004 into 2005 they completely disappeared from the Rolex Sub 14060, 16610, and SD watch range, up to around 2003 it was a shorter stem anchor. But around 2004 a slightly longer stem anchor was introduced until they were stopped altogether.

Interesting thread I learned something this morning about flat 4's and these green subs. Double luck on the OP. As you intend to do...just enjoy the watch knowing if things got desperate you could always turn the Rolex to help fix the problem.

This is a beauty. Does your watch have a different bezel?, it looks as if the markings are a lot heavier, thicker body stroke.

Be very very careful if buying a replacement Anchor on line... there are a lot of fakes out there and unless you really know what you are looking at or have a genuine one to compare it to side by side, it would be real easy to get fooled...

No, all original, purchased new in 2009.
It is just the effect of the close up lens, the f stop, the angle, and the lighting that I used to take the pic.
