Wonderful...at any cost, you got what you wanted.

Question though...what was wrong with the original dial & hands, they looked ok in the photos, but were they damaged?

The hands were scratched and badly discolored (but hard to get that to show up in photo). In fact, the discoloration of the hands is what got me to finally get off my dead a** to send it in for servicing. It looked like moisture had gotten in the case and migrated to the hands, but the RSC did not mention anything about moisture, and believe me they provided a very detailed written estimate noting every scratch and dent on the watch.

I originally requested that they quote me on a new dial to match the new Super Luminova hands I knew it would be getting. However, their detailed inspection revealed the dial to be scratched and discolored. This makes sense given that back in 1990 the firist sapphire crystal I had put on the watch shattered when I dropped in on a tile floor. The AD had the crystal replaced for me, the dial and hands looked okay to me, but I never really put a loupe on them. I would bet that's how the dial (and the probably the hands, too) got scratched.

Beautiful looking watch. I had not seen a before and after set of pictures before and the improvement is dramatic. Truly looks like new. Enjoy it.

Yes very nice!! $$ but what the heck it means allot to you! You know there is 1 thing I dont agree with. Rolex charges you to replace the band and then keeps your old GOLD one......there making out like a bandit!!

Yeah, they made some $$ on me, no doubt. However, my AD showed me his Rolex price book and if the bracelet was ordered through him without trade-in, the cost was a little over $2,600+. So, by having the RSC do it as part of the service and letting them keep the old worn bracelet, the cost was $1,950. The list price without trade-in for the new style TT Jubilee with solid center links was $3,600+.

Yep, they replaced the crystal, crown & tube, dial, hands and Jubilee bracelet. I asked about a new bezel and the RSC told my AD, "Yeah, we can do it and it will cost $600+. However, we think the bezel on it will polish up nicely." So, based on price (that seemed more over priced than the bracelet) and the fact they said it would polish up nicely, I nixed the new bezel.

Got it.

Thanks

I have a 1960 Oyster Perpetual with some sort of blemishes / H2o damage on the dial. I took it to a non-RSC place for work some time ago - before I knew of RSC. They did not replace the dial. may do that on my own.

Wayne, I have the exact same watch. When you got it back, did the sticks and hands have any Lume on them, because there is no Lume whatsoever on mine and that would be nice to have back?

The dial on it originally was a T Swiss T with tritium dots above the sticks. The new dial is Swiss Made with little Super Luminova dots right above the sticks, between the sticks and the little Roman numerals. By the way, it's a lovely dial, better than I ever expected. Honestly, I like it better than the original. The minute track with Roman numerals is really neat.

Great watch. They do nice work-- not cheap, but nice. I used to have the same version but gave it to a son. It's still one of the best looking packages.
