What a terrific story! I really enjoyed it. The best part was the role your wife and brother played in the purchase. I would love to have that kind of support! I wish you and your family the best of luck in everything you do. Thanks for sharing!

Yes. It was very impressive. The feel of the watch is, if I may, solid. From the clasp design to the solid end-links to the ceramic bezel. To be honest the case was a bit square for my liking---but it took me a while to like the new design of the BMW and the Cadillac. The blue is a different color than the standard Rolex that I've seen for some many years. It's an incredible watch and definitely a piece of art. But on Dec 24, 2009 I just couldn't let the 16613 go.

Congrat on your first Rolex, but It's strange to me(in Asia) that you can buy a Rolex with a personal cheque.

Funny I had a conversation this morning with my wife. It's most likely years off----but man do I like that TT GMT. I have 3 daughter's under the age of 5 so I better be putting a little in the 529 college plans

I've the same dial (diamonds and sapphire markers) on a Yacht Master. You'll never tire of looking at it - it is my favorite dial, period, of all the Rolex dials.
Great story, great watch - and, from the sounds of it, great family.

Good point. I never really thought of it until you mentioned it. I now agreee. My wife worked their for 6 years albeit hasn't in nearly 10. The owner knows us personally. Perhaps that played the biggest role. I just asked my wife this and she agrees they would rarely accept a check in that amount unless the person was known. Man I don't know if I could have gone to the bank and took the price of the watch out in cash

Great story and congratulations.
I used to be the same way. I used to associate a Rolex with a tattoo, you get one and you're stuck with them. Now, I understand the resale advantage and the fact that, much like tattoos (right Justin), they are highly addicting. You just popped your cherry, now you are going to want another and then another. Merry Christmas.

Congratulations! And you must be having an amazing holiday!
Great story and very well narrated! That is a gorgeous watch! I have never quite seen a combo like the configuration you have. There is certainly a lot going on there, and it all works! It looks great! As time goes by, I am becoming a big fan of the silver/gold combo. I would love a Rolex one day with the Everose and stainless combo. That royal blue really works well with the watch! Have fun with it! Cheers, Carl
