This was my "perfect" watch too! However, when I was finally ready to make my purchase a few days ago... the origional Sea Dweller was no more!
I did look at the new Dep Sea, but I thought it was too large for every day use. Oh well, back to the drawing board. |

Update: its now been close to two months and its still the greatest watch I ever owned. The watch is now running -0.5 sec a day, and has one thing that I think dress the SD perfect:
some scratches! ![]() ![]() |

Love the SD. The only neg would be that it would benefit from maxi hands/plots in order to get more lume power out of it.

Good and personal review, thanks so much!
After having owned and still owning most of the Subs, including the new ceramic black and green, I must say that the Classic Sea-Dweller is the best sports watch ever made by Rolex! It gets most of wrist time, it is present, although stealth, not too shiny, it impresses by its feel and look.....It just feels right to me! Greetings Tom, Switzerland |

Great watch. It's a strong piece without too much added thickness. Thanks for sharing!

The review says everything that I think about my own Sea-Dweller 4000. It's simply a fantastic watch and I never grow tired of wearing it.
I popped the bracelet myself a couple of years ago and put a couple of tiny marks next to the pin holes (mine is a 2003 model), but other than that it's still almost pristine. Now that they have stopped making them and I could no longer obtain a direct replacement (as is also the case with my 16220 Datejust), I'm thinking of buying a new daily watch (probably a steel GMT IIc, but perhaps a new Datejust or Datejust II) later in the year and placing my Sea-Dweller and current Datejust into semi-retirement - not because I don't like wearing them any more, but because I like them both a little bit too much! |
