The DJ2 is an extremely comfortable watch to wear. I've owned it twice and will probably have it again. Great review.

Nice detailed review. The size of the dial vs case just bugs me. The DJ is just better proportioned imho.

Tend to agree with this. If I wanted a big watch I would look to IWC, Pan and to be really OTT, Jacob. I have big wrists (195mm) and the sub looks about right. Just bought a 18ct DJ and at 36mm some would claim it would be too small. I disagree and think it looks what it is, a classy dress watch.
I am a great beliver in you buy what makes you feel good and I just cannot warm to overly big watches, especially Rolex. Less is more IMHO.

im sure you will realise that the DJII isnt bigger than say a 16610 Sub if you see the pic of them side by side. just look at the the case sizes.

im sure you are aware that the 40mm Sub and 41mm DJII are dial diameters, not the total case width/diameter.

yep and yep.....but a dj is a dress watch and not a sports watch like the sub. Horse for courses I guess but I really cannot warm to oversized watches. Just my personal opinion...less is more.

less isnt usually more in many cases....

Those are actually case diameters, the dial on a 40mm watch is approximately 28mm.

Since i last posted on this thread my father in law swapped his GMT II'c for a DJ II TT with a champagne/diamond dial. Very nice but i still prefer the ivory/baton dial for a TT model.

I agree. The bezel looks too big, the crown and bracelet too small. Kind of out of proportion.

My SA says most people find it too big.

can you imaging what a DJII would look like with a bigger crown? i bet it'd look funny and "more" out of proportion.....

the 21mm Oyster bracelet is perfect for the 41mm DJII.....

ITA, the 36 DJ is perfect-a very classy watch.

There is nothing wrong with being understated!!

Love my DJII. Right size for me, not overly big, and I wear it almost every day.

I waited patiently for a tu tone black Arabic dial to come into my AD and I am very pleased with the look and feel of the new lareger case Datejust II. Once I started wearing the 40mm Daytonas and Yachtsmasters, the 41mm Sub and GMT II, I just didn't care for my old 36mm Datejust any longet. This new larger casse version fits the bill for me.

Excellent review ! You said it right that the crown looks disproportionate to the dial/bezel size. Hope Rolex folks will upgrade it with a bigger crown.

I am a late entrant/convert of Rolex. Am loving everything about the changes made on the Sub C and the SS Daytona. They do listen to their customers !

Great review. I already think that the 2004 facelift of the DJ was not the right move. The DJII is not on my radar screen and I find my 1986 DJ absolutely perfect. Is there a tuxedo dial that fits that model?
