I enjoyed reading about the Nakaya give-away and I just placed an order with Nibs.com. I mentioned the TRF connection when I did so. Anxiously awaiting a second hand Nakaya Piccolo writer in Araishu plus a Pilot VP for my wife.

I'm pretty anxious as well - I really love the washed-red. I am not so familiar with pen setup in general, but David did ask a number of questions. We're going with a medium nib and John will set up for my back-handed writing style and I believe with a little higher inkflow. I was very tempted to try a medium or fine oblique - next time.

I'll post some photos when I receive but it's still on their website so here is a borrowed photo.

That is beautiful, there is something about that finish that is very very appealing!

Just for info. My portable writer came with a medium nib with the same type of inkflow yours is going to have. It was a joy to use, so smooth but with great feedback. I took the opportunity a few months later of Johns nib change at minimal cost feature as I had been turned onto broad stubs so I had John change mine to a double broad flexi stub..I love it!

The medium I think you will be pleasently suprised as I know you said you wanted to try a fine. I think you will find the medium to be more like a fine. In fact, pardon the pun! It was one of the finest fine nibs I have had the pleasure to write with!

Also, I am sure Dave will attest to this, the way John sets a pen up to write, well, I think he would have been hung for witch craft a few hundred years ago! There is something he does with the nib that makes it almost irresistable to write with!

He did the same to my montegrappa nib, it is stunning to write with!

I am really looking forward to hearing what you think of it and some real photos of the finish!

Maybe sooner than you think..............

It maybe easier if I just made it a brand new Montblanc Flagship 149 with the choice of nib to the winner......It would be a little more expensive though...but only a few dollars...
