i would not say hideous. But it is probably the least attractive watch Rolex produces...Not a fan of Milgaus either

You said the same thing in an ExplorerII-thread a couple of days ago - now which is the ugliest of the two? Quite different watches.

Its not a dress watch like a day/date or DJ but its to small for my 6'3 to 6'1 (depends on how bad my back hurts that day) 240 pound frame
Looks like a captain crunch toy watch on my wrist....if it was just 40mm

toss up..i dont like either..but just my 2 cents...not looking to offend people that have them or like them..i just dont like the way they look. I like my gmt and DJ's because they are beautiful to look at - i could stare at them (and do) all day. i also absolutely love the sub, daytona (especially panda), DD, Deep Sea. I dont care for 2 tones, explorers or milgaus. Not a big fan of YM. I dont like yellow gold either but the SUB and GMT with black bezels and dials look great with yellow gold

Ask, and Ye Shall Receive

Not offended, just curious.

My wife doesn't understand why I split wrist time between my TT Sub and my SS one. I tell her they are so different...but in the same way.

Daniel, I think the Explorer is a great Rolex watch and has a very interesting history. A true classic!

'Hideous' is a pretty strong word to use. Is she being dramatic or does she really feel that strongly about the watch?

I wish it were bigger. Even if it were 38mm. As much as I like Kyle's photos, whenever I put on the Expy I at my AD, it looks awkwardly small.

While I don't understand how anyone can consider an Explorer to be hideous, I'm perfectly happy that it is not one of the more popular watches. There's something special about seeing beauty in places where most do not.
