I completed a transaction with a fellow from Craigslist once. I copied down his license plate number, and made a photocopy of his driver's license. I don't think you can be too careful when dealing with that den of thieves.

Sorry to hear that Paul,
Here is what i would do.
If his add is still up on craigslsit... send him and email from one of you friends and asking him if he want to do a trade... 90% he will tell you yes i want to trade and let's meet "thinking that he's doing it again with a new victim"... then you make sure to show up with few friends and you will hold him untill the Policia arrives...
it might work... or even not to be liable.. if he agrees to meet you can call the police and have them meet you at that location...
That is as close as you can get of getting you watch back...calling and reposrting and all of those will not get you you money back...
Best of luck and keep us updated

I always get the make model and license number of the car when I meet a person on Craiglist whether I am buyer or seller. I get first and last name and their home address if I can. Haven't been burned yet (knocking on wood).

I sold one of my rolexes on craigslist, but I had the person meet me at a watchmaker to authenticate it so that there are no issues. I also bought my GMTcII on craigslist, the seller was a jeweler who had a store where I made the transaction. Deals can be made on craigslist, you just have to be extemely wary of scams and make sure watch is real before passing money. If the seller refuses to meet you at a jeweler or watchmaker then you know something is not right. Sure the watchmaker may charge a fee for authenticating but it sure beats getting scammed.

I got my sub 3 days ago and met the guy at rolex service center and he agreed and I looked at it with magnifying glass for 5 minutes and play with the watch. Then I went to the service center and had a final check then I pay him.
You can file your rolex as stolen and let it go from there.

Did you try a google search and then clicking on the archive of the page? You may want to do that while you still can and print it out for your records.

working with Paul i was able to track the originating IP from the emails sent (even though the scammer used a yahoo account). It was traced to a business outside of DC, he was stupid enough to send them from a work computer... Now Paul has that info to give to police. Good Luck Paul!!!

I'm feeling a little under the weather today, and reading this has made me feel all the more shi##y.

I hope in a few days we hear about the cops caving this guy's skull in.

Hang in there, Paul, I hope this all works out in your favor.

Dont go to the cops ... they will laugh in your face ....dude, with molesters and killers on the loose, you think what happened to you is really that important? You can take the guy to court ...that's your best chance .... otherwise you have a better chance of seeing your watch in your dreams than actually in person ....... Craiglist is notorious place known for harboring cheaters, scammers and ch fact, child molesters...
