It's all a big let down, nothing worth buying.
I can happily still want the classics, which there are now more of. |

Started a thread on it, but obviously not a big deal to you guys. I'm going to keep saying it though. I like the new ladies bezel.
Sorry I am a broken record on this one-prob gonna get shunned for it. |

I'm more impressed with the changes in the ladies DJ than anything.

I was scared to start this thread because of the rioters and flame throwers, but Greg, I could not agree with you more. Well said.

I agree. I feel that Rolex has hit a point where they feel their brand will sell whatever they release and they have no need to truly innovate. Unfortunately, that very well may be true. The only aspect of these newer models I have to give them credit for is the glidelock clasp.

SPOT ON! The guys who wants new flavors every year should look at Omegas or IWCs (etc) 2315 limited series, with 3521 versions, of every watch. How much is their resale value? How many iconic series do they have? Lets face it. Rolex is what they are BECAUSE they dont change for changes sake. And that quality is in another word: timeless. |

My socks have not been blown off, merely rolled down! The Exp is not unpleasant, neither is the new sub, so I have to agree with you. Come on Rolex show the faithful what you can really do!

From what I've seen, this has been a "dud" firework show. Of course I hoped a SS blue/blue would make a debut. The new Sub looks fine, and I would be fine buying one used, but not new. The explorer has small hands. The green has a bad dial bezel combo, and who really cares about the diamond dial addition?
Would it have been so hard to make a new double red? What about the Pepsi/ Coke theme? I haven't seen anything yet that I would purchase. I'm happy for the people who like the new releases, but Rolex showed up for a covered dish dinner, and brought canned corn for everyone to eat. They could of had Filet mignon, and coconut shrimp, but opted for the bare minimum........Why even show up to Basel with such a weak lineup? My attention is geared towards the other brands if that is all Rolex thinks they need to provide. Anyone can walk into a Rolex shop, and purchase a watch. Rolex is supposed to provide a good looking product to keep people interested in the brand. I haven't seen that yet. I do like the green bezel. It has a milky olive color that would go good with a flannel jacket, and cup of coffee in the Fall time. The mint shiny dial looks like a christmas tree ornament. Who did that? flat green, or flat black would have done the trick, but mint??? Surely there is something these people have been working on since last year..... |

I guess I'll swim against the tide here....
I like the new Explorer. I don't own a current-style Explorer, mainly because it just looks too small on my wrist. A 39mm version should be just about perfect (IMHO)! I can definitely see one in my future... As for the new SS Sub, I love the look of the current Sub. I also love the look of the GMTIIc "supercase". Combining the 2 designs in the new Sub (with no polished center links, and an improved clasp) is a brilliant thing for Rolex to do. I believe Rolex will sell boatloads of the new Subs, at whatever price they decide to charge. The new "all green" sub is probably stunning in person. And, since it's primarily SS, it should be affordable by many more people than the WG "smurf" sub. I hope they also introduce more dial styles in the DJII - and a smooth bezel option would be nice! Rolex rarely does anything too far outside their standard designs. I think the new introductions incorporate updates that are likely to be well received in the general Rolex marketplace. Steve |

All this fuzz is a very good example of when people dont learn from their history, and have too high hopes on too many guesses on Internet.
Come on. Its Rolex were talking about. Since when do Rolex ship out more than three big news at Basel? Since when do Rolex do major changes to a watch series? The whole idea behind Rolex is to make small, small changes, and be conservative in product lines. This cant be a surprise to you people?.. |

If we then talk about the green Sub - I agree, an all green watch is not that conservative, but the green is on the other hand Rolex trademark color since many, many years, and in that perspective pretty conservative. It still seems to me that many wants Rolex to be like Omegas and IWCs and Panerai who makes thousands limited series, and other variations, to every Basel fair. That would be a very dangerous path for Rolex to walk, I assure you. It would soon be a me-too-watch, and we dont want that, do we? |

Rolex have served me well with their offerings this year.
I've only got to find £2700 for the Tudor Heritage Chrono, no other temptations to get in the way.

I am not disapointed at all, look at the history of Rolex and you will find more changes and more innovation in the last few tears than for many years. I like the new stainless steel Sub and nice to see it has a brushed bracelet (perhaps they do read forums?). I also like the new Explorer although I would have preferred 40mm.
I would be quite happy to buy a Sub, Explorer and the Tudor Heritage Chronograph. |
