I believe that once all the models are upgraded, Rolex will be back to it's boring self.

We happen to be living in the time when they are revamping their entire line of watches.

I think in the next 3-5 years we will see a Daytona II with a big date aperture at '12'. Mind my words, people!

I'd like to se a Daytona II or something along those lines. I guess calling it a Daytona II would be a modification. I'd like it to have a date function and maybe the Rolex coronet and "ROLEX" placed somewhere else on the dial.
Maybe a completely new style oyster bracelet as well. Something can be done in the way of the Chronometer I think. Maybe keep the Daytona as is and make something bigger or smaller with a date function re-arrange the sub-dials on the dial and move everything around a bit.........................MAYBE I'M JUST CRAZY!

Something entirely apart from all the modifications & upgrades that Rolex have been eye-washing us with all these years from Basel.

At the present rate that Rolex is going, it won't be too long before all their current models have been completely modified, upgraded and in some cases revamped..............and then, what next? That's right.....WHAT NEXT?????

We'll have a huge Rolex collection of completely new watches with the latest Parachrom springs, Paraflex systems, newest clasps and bracelets, thicker lugs, maxi dials, Ceramic bezels.............and then?

That's it - no more ideas!!!

Cheers all - JJ

A brand new line may be..."CRAZY-WIZ-MASTER" with a "TRF post counter" complication ...dedicate to TRFers and exclusively sold to them
They would then sign a multimillion dollar contract with JJ to be the brand ambassador of the line

IMO, I'm sure the subtle modifications like the "Red Submariner", the "Rail dial", the "Maxi Dial", the "Matte dial", and others, when introduced, all seemed like a snooze in their day, but look how much they mean to us today. No other brand is admired, judged and scrutinized by a bunch of loop packin WIS like Rolex is. Want a new model every year or blinged up models? there are plenty of other brands out there to fill that void, not Rolex! In ten-twenty years, judge the impact of the 2010 Explorer update and good luck buying a 14270 or 114270 for twice what they sell for today.

How about a TT and gold Explorer II? Or maybe a moon-phase chrono?

Hello JJ :)

I love how you ponder and come up with these questions...informative and entertaining.

Here you go...My 2 ideas for new models.

1. I would like to see a new model for adventure motorcycling: something that does not cut into my wrist but could still stand up to the rigors of off road riding. Possibly a 'updated' if you will; Steve McQueen edition.

2. A new model that will get me a beer from the fridge faster than my lovely wife...I wore my Suunto out.

Cheers Mate!

New Sub Bracelet On GMT ii C - Will It Fit?

Both the new sub and GMT iic are 40 mm - does anyone know if the new sub bracelet will fit on a GMT iic? It would be nice to have two bracelets for the GMT iic. Solves the issue for folks who prefers the 100% brushed bracelet.

While it is true that the present seems like a natural time to update the models in Rolex's lineup, I don't necessarily think we'll see such long periods of inactivity moving forward.

The culture of watch buying/collecting has never been greater, and competition for buyers has never been greater. Rolex may choose to shorten its product refresh cycles, just as some other luxury product manufacturers have done in recent years.

Most of the current Rolex designs are from the 40's and 50'.

1945 - Datejust
1953 - Explorer
1954 - Submariner (I count the Sea Dweller here).
1954 - Milgauss
1955 - GMT Master
1956 - Day Date.

After this you have the Daytona in 1962 and later revised into the current Daytona, the Explorer II in the 70's, the Yatchmaster and YM II in the last two decades. Latest, we have the DEEPSEA

Rolex has gotten to where it is by maintaining its classic lines... are we really sure we want this to change? There are other watch companies from those who want something different. Maybe best Rolex stays Rolex.

I would rather see Rolex launching a "Vintage Series".

I have been on other forums looking at various new releases from Basel and the Rolex offerings have been very boring in comparison.
