I have my DSSD on 24/7, except at the gym. I was very worried about it being uncomfortable, but for me it's not.

It a great big, hefty, lump of very fashionable metal. The weight and size (particularly thickness) are close to or at the limits of what the average person can tolerate for sedate everyday activities (ie. normal street/office wear). It therefore stands to reason that for some people it will actually be over the comfort limit and clearly its not going to be very practical for arduous or very active wear for anyone (unless they are 7ft, 300lbs and with 9" wrists). Real sports watches should put practicality before style and therefore not be obtrusive. The OP is not being a WUS but has learnt an expensive lesson in watch choosing.

I think for me, it would be too big !! The 40 mm is just about perfect for my wrist.
Give it some time, like anything, you have to get used to it !! |

Sold my DSSD...
I did not find that the DeepSea hurt my wrist...but it was just a little too large. I think Rolex did a fine job engineering a watch with those proportions while making it very comfy.
That being said now that I own a Daytona I can certainly state that it is even more comfortable then my Milgauss GV was and my EXP-II is...this Daytona is like a wrist slipper - just amazing... |

Does it seem to most folks here that the DSSD lies a bit outside
of the average wearer's comfort zone? My wrist is larger than most at 7.75", and I found it too large and top-heavy for normal wear. I mean, this watch was designed for ocean submersion to depths that are completely unreachable by any human. But then, the original Sea Dweller can go to depths no human can reach either. Thus, what was the point of increasing the size of its replacement in order to go THREE TIMES deeper in the ocean, when that results in something that most people can't really use, much as they may WANT to like it.
I have no statistical proof, but it also seems to me I see more posts around here referring to DSSDs that have been sold off than posts about buying one. It's like people get one, try to wear it, eventually decide, 'this is just stupid', and pass it along at a bit of a loss, for someone else to eventually find out the same thing. I personally think Rolex definitely should update and upgrade the SD and re-introduce it in a 41mm case, maybe rated to 1600 meters, 5280 feet/One Mile, with a domed crystal but NO increase in thickness from its original 14.5mm. Thing would sell like freakin' hot cakes, they wouldn't be able to keep'em in stock. |

I wouldn't accuse you of being a "wuss" but you certainly should stay away from any YG or WG Subs and anything with the Panerai name on it.
