I think one of the things we do less well in these affluent times is practice self restraint.
I always think the right time to spoil yourself is when there are no other pressing needs for the money. Its easy to find lots of compelling reasons for immediate gratification - thats our nature. Fact is, good watches will always be available at reasonable prices - there's no rush.

Agree must be quite a LVs in this world and all basically the same except for a few minor fonts, slight colour change, and case stamp.

I want a Submariner 16610LV. I REALLY WANT IT !!!!!!

And I will buy one. But I told myself to wait 6 months or maybe 8 months.
My budget does not allow a purchase today.
I could sell my Panerai 292 ceramic (special PIG dial) but I don't want to.
My budget comes a few K short

So like said, within more or less 7 months it should be possibe.

But 2 things make it difficult to wait. I've noticed that those green 16610LV submariners are getting more and more expensive since they are discontinued.
I year ago we could buy these for 3600 till 3800 in Europe, today you are lucky if you find one for 4100 euro and the average seems to be 4200 till 4400. So what if I wait another 7 months ? Will I have to pay close to 5000 euro ?

And the most important thing I was just offered one I almost can't rufuse. Let me tell you why
First and most important, the watch is in like new condition, really perfect. Its from 2006 but it seems to be unworn.
Ofcourse it comes with all the papers and all the boxes.
Also the Rolex anchor, the red Geneva seal
And the little books 'Rolex Submariner'
AND this is pretty rare and unique !!! The original press kit which was never given to clients but only to Rolex AD. If you don't know what it is, it is some kind of a cover which contains a DVD, some very nice pictures, the history of the Rolex sub, etc)

So this package is the most complete you will ever find !!!!!!

The guy asks 4650 for everything. So a bit on the high side but like said, try to find a set complete like that.

Now the question.

Should I break my rule and buy it ( the budget does not allow it YET). I'll have to use money which is not ment for watches !!! It are my savings in case something happens like loose your job, get an unexpected cost like a car accident or other things.

Or should I just pass this one and buy one within 7 months (knowing that I will probably not find such a complete package for 4650 again)

Thank you for your opinion
you have a bad case of Watch Fever, an incurable and degenerative disease, rarely fatal, but which has a poor prognosis....causes mental illness. Leave the damn watch go!(ha! easy for me to say, i never do!)...wait until you can afford it. The green subs will always be around, as will other rolexes. The rolex market is way off right now, and I'm sure in 6 months, you'll still be able to find that green sub at a reasonable price.
best,
Dan

I do not think one will ever have a problem getting an LV--there are many of them out there! So--If you want it now--get it--if not--you will be fine waiting.
