Bezel...Gold plated unidirectional ??? "Gold Tone" mercedes hands...??? THE ORIGINAL TUDOR DIAL HAS BEEN REFINISHED/MODIFIED BY A DIAL CRAFTSMAN IN THIS REFLECTIVE BLUE DIAL ??????????????????????? This is a franken watch.......no doubt. Run!!!! |

Look, all these vendors are what I referred to in an earlier posting. They make their living buying Tudor watches and then customizing them for those who aren't Rolex/Tudor perfectionists like most of us. These sellers can easily have high ratings for satisfaction becuase they're providing what they display, and undeniably, the ETA movements that come with Tudors and the Rolex cases make these fine timekeeping pieces.
If the buyer doesn't mind a Frakenrolex or a Tudorstein, then we can and should just quietly move along having just looked at merchandise that doesn't appeal to us. There have been enough of these mutants offered for sale and auctioned off in the recent past to prove there is indeed a market for these watches. All kinds of things are in the marketplace that I have no interest in, and I leave it at that. |

let me say something
Solo, I checked the auction link out and you just mentioned something. You said you thought the watch was pretty cool. The feeling you had when you saw that watch tells me it made you smile. I would have purchased it for that reason alone. If I were to purchase the Sub based on the hype, i would be very miserable with the Sub. I think its a nice Rolex and Classic but not on my wrist. I like the DJ. I even wear mine with a Bond Nato, but thats what I like and enjoy. The ending price for that Franken Rolex was at a reasonable $800+ range which is a very good deal in my book.

I mean $800 for a 33mm diameter, twin-lock crown Mini-Sub with horrid, fake dial is not really a great find. Just my opinion here guys......different strokes and all that

250% fake or at best if you could call it best a frankenwatch,would not touch it with a 20ft barge pole.

I say if you like what you like, then go for it. In this forums, I find many a purist. These are the same people in the car community who chase after every origional nut and bolt and serial number origional to the car.
I happen to be a modifier at heart. So, I think if you like that dial, and are happy with it on your wrist, I say go for it. I have a Sub Date and Airking that are fully polished. Case. bracelet and bezel. Some around here whould think that is an act worthy of death. If I held their ideas and beliefs, I would agree, but I don't and I like to personalize. Anyway, after my rant, if you like the watch, buy it. Later if you want to be a purist, sell it on E-bay and call it a day. PAtrick

Patrick, even if it is polished and what not, it's a Rolex and doesn't pretend to be anything else. I have a Tudor chrono and I'm under no illusions of it being a Daytona. A Rolex is a Rolex and a Tudor is a Tudor, even if they did come from the same company.

its a watch, you buy one to wear. you buy a watch if you like the way it looks on your hand and the price's right.
i enjoy my rolex not because its a rolex but because i don't have to pull out my handphone everytime someone or even me wants to know what time or what date it is. i can't tell if my watch is 3 seconds faster or slower each day and neither do i care. i just chuck my DJ with my pants in a corner of the room on the floor at the end of each and every day at the end of the day if you feel that you like the watch and the price is right, why not? for all i know all of us here have probably spent money on some weird stuff the rest would not approve of. some spend thousands on things you call "clubs" which you use in a "sport" called golf. others maybe on fishing rods. some gamble it all away like the young man who lost 10k each weekend at the casino. at the end of the day only you yourself would know if you've missed out on something you wanted |

still a good watch IMHO
I have about a 15+ watch collection that includes Rolex, Tudor, Bulova, Omega, Wittnauer, and Longines. I also have two "california dial" tudors. I love them! Thats all that matters in the end, Right?

The watch is authentic Tudor but reconditioned with ROLEX bezel and I would never buy a watch that was opened and lots of things were changed, it is not fake TUDOR but a TUDOR that is not looking original without it s first factory made TUDOR logo on the bezel. and the watch is not ROLEX and not TUDOR with this look. It may have lots of problems if it was reconditioned several times cause of several reasons. Forget it.
