Say you save $800 buying grey market (the TT example mentioned above) and the watch isn't running 100%. Off to the RSC for a $495 basic service. You're still ahead $300 and then you WILL have a RSC 1 year warranty to boot. That's assuming it's a problem the seller won't fix. Stick with a good seller and you are going to be OK. Lots of Rolex trained watch guys out there if you're willing to look. How is going back to the seller any more of a PITA then going back to the AD or an RSC? Lots of folks out there providing good customer service.

You can save a pretty penny if you do some homework.

JJ, you're prices are great and I'd buy off and AD in your case too.

Here, it's MSRP plus and the service sucks unless you're a big shot. I'm just a guy trying to buy a watch. :)

I guess it all boils down to Supply & Demand.

Supply in NZ is rich....demand not that much. Buyer calls the shots, I guess in NZ!!

honestly, i think alan furman is one of the only grey dealers id buy from esp if u live in the area and can use his warrantee

I went preowned only because I like to negotiate and all the AD's wouldn't even entertain a discount. I got my D series EX II for $3600 with open papers from a dealer. Even had the halogram still on it and a 06/06 build date stamp on papers.

Preowned Blu Sub $4500
Preowned SD $3200

JJ's prices are great for new...

BNIB TT Blue Sub.....US$5900 out-the-door.

I saved over 1k from what the AD was willing to offer me. In fact the AD told me to buy grey market b/c they couldn't come close.

I agree that the shipping was only a glitch. Cayce had promised for a refund.

The glitch in shipping doesn't mean that I will stop buying from him in the future, though. It is human nature that in every endeavors you do for the first time, and if it didn't go smoothly--the apprehension sets in, and eventually heals and dissipates. Nowadays, "savings" outweighs small degrees of apprehension, IMHO.

In order to avoid significant depreciation, it is wise enough to buy preowned Rolex. But please choose only a reputable dealers who have legitimate store. If the dealer has a legitimate store, it indicates that the dealer would be there if there is something wrong with the watch. And beside that, how can you ask a dealer on the internet to be responsible ? You don't even know where he is and how to meet him

I've been just delighted with my used Rollies -- have more soul, and some miles on them. I'm not universally pleased with some of the newer designs anyhow -- have you seen that DJ with the weird embossed number design all over the face...just yucky for want of a better word.

The only pre-owned purchase I've come to regret was the authentic Bond Sub I bought from JJ.

Joker sold it to me with a dead battery!

I bought my Yacht-Master pre-owned and don't regret it for a minute. I saved $2,200. The watch (a 2006 SN) had only been worn a few times and was flawless.

Until I found these forums I would only buy new however, now it is a different story. Not only do you save a bunch of money but you get to network so to speak. In the future, you will usually be able to call upon someone, somewhere in the world whom you have dealt with in the past that can get their hands on something you want at a good price.

Usually people who are into watches baby them, for this reason I now will only buy pre-owned.

So far my first 2 Rollies have been pre-loved. As long as you do your homework, investigate like hell, and trust the seller, it should work fine.

It's a dream [hope it comes true] to walk into an AD and say "I'll take that one".
