My 'have all the money in the world' priority would be lots of:
A. Lange Sohne Patek Vacheron Rolex high end models of in-house startups (just to speculate)

I will probably still have at least one Rolex, I think the GMT IIc is a great daily wear :-)

I'd get the automatic digital A. Lange Sohne, I have a top of the range dornbleuth and buy the lv sub and then fill up with every corum special edition I could find. I'd then get a nice display cabinet which revolved, had glass shelves and halogen lights to display them in when I wasn't wearing them.
Just the GV for now though lol. |

I'd buy EVERYTHING! ☟
But, Michael, what would you wear for the other three days of the week?
[I did own a Patek 3970 (it is a 3970, isn't it...at least it looks like it to me) from 1992/93 (as I recall) once.....bought very "right", but in a moment of need (newly married, young children), sold very "right" as well. Will always regret selling it, as I loved wearing it, and doubt I will ever be in a position to purchase one again]. To answer the OP's question, I would buy using my same criteria, based on what I like, simply now able to buy more watches that were previously out of my price range, and more that already are in my price range! I might even stop negotiating!!

If money were no object, I may consider buying from an AD.

I love Rolex. I'll always have at least one, regardless of how much dough I have.

I think your investment would be much safer in a Rolex.

Don't know.
A vintage Fifty Fathoms might be fun. Probably pick up watches with interesting individual histories, Like Sir Ed Hillary's Rolex. |

If money was no object I would definitely looking into buying a Patek. But if I was going to stick with Rolex I would love to get a Everose Daytona with a black dial or possibly a Everose Daydate II.

If money no object : - There's a well know watch dealer who has a 1665 Comex Sea Dweller for sale at the moment
I'd probably flip my modern SD for that & be a one watch guy !! |

Nice choice, ill take the 5970G...i prefer the larger case. A Rolex should be in any serious collection. They make very robust, high quality, in house timepieces that retain their value. Having said that, there are many other brands that have amazing histories and create amazing Haute Horlogerie that I would delve into with unlimted $$$.

Personally I think Rolex makes as good of a sport watch as money can buy. Their SS collection is second to none. However, there is so much more to horology than Rolex, so I'd go elsewhere as well. Rolex doesnt do so well with more formal pieces, and they dont produce any complications.
Lange and Patek are a good start, but I'd get a few FP Journes and Richard Milles as well.... |

I already have the Rolex... So if money was no object, I'd make SteveO an offer he couldn't refuse.
Then I'd ban Figbo.

When I got to a certain point in life I thought I needed a Patek. Got one, missed my day date tiger eye terribly. Sold the Patek and got the tiger eye out of the safety deposit box. In the last year or so, I have put the tiger eye back up and have been wearing a plain jane SS sub. The more I wear the sub and a GMT II C TT the better I like them. Can't see myself going back to the day date permanetely as I did for about 14 years or not wearing Rolex exclusively. Its my preferance.

I just don't care for anything but sport model watches, so I think I'd stick to Rolex and maybe add a few more Omegas to the bunch. I'd start with the the WG YM II and the WG Sub!
