There are many brands - and I buy some of them - but always seem to sell them off quickly and replace with a Rolex.

I diversify my collection, life is too short to stick to only one watch brand and besides, you don't know what your missing out there, like panerai addictive straps and of coarse the omega mania!

I have some rolex in addition to a panerai and I'm interested in getting a Linde Werdelin or Audemar Piguet. I'd like to add a little diversity.

I have seven watches in my collection now, Rolex sub is one of them, I have Omega Speedy Pro, Omega Planet Ocean, IWC Spitfire Chrono, Zenith Elite Defy Classic, Ebel 1911 Discovery Chrono and Tag Heuer Acquaracer 500M. I like to diversify if I can.

I've already moved to other brands. There is a fantastic assortment of fine watches out there. Don't miss out! I get more compliments from my non-Rolex watches.

I started with less expensive watches. Only in the past two years or so did I buy Rolex watches. Out of over 20, only two are Rolex. They consist of Breitling, Renato, Invicta, Movado, Android,Seiko, Citizen, NFW and one pretty beat up Tag. I don't wear many of the larger watches anymore as I find them uncomfortable since I have started wearing my Rolexes.

Would this not then be "just a bunch of Rolex's"

For now, I stick with one.

Rolex.

I've had Omegas, Panerais, Tags before... but until I get to move up to AP, Pateks... etc... I'm sticking with the 1 brand that always does it for me - Rolex.

I wore three different watches today. A vintage Universal, an AirKing, and a vintage Omega bumper. I could never see myself with one brand exclusively.

I prefer to cover different kind of watches and different brands. I like varieties...

I have Rolex (of course), but also Breguet, Audemars, Omega, Panerai, Movado, JLC, Zenith, Longines, Cartier, Hamilton.

I don't know if this is a collector logic, but I would like to have a good piece for each kind of watch; for example: at least one classic ultra slim, one sporty chrono, one sub, one classic chrono, etc., etc
Plus I feel that without some icons my collection would be not ok; how to do without a submariner? Or without a Royal Oak? Or can I miss an historical PAM?
How to survive without ?

I just collect Rolex and Omega.. other brands don't really appeal. don't really care what everyone else thinks. i might have a boxfull of watches looking the same, but they're all different and individual to me

I respectfully disagree.

I would argue that you could have a theme to your collection, lets say GMT/Worldtimers, and have MANY brands that offer a watch that has these functions and would therfore still have a collection...not just a bunch of watches.

I have a "wish list" of watches that will encompass my collection one day: numerous brands encompassing two themes: Rolex and GMT/Worldtimers.

Rolex:
Sub LV (have)
GMT 18k black dial
DD RG chocolate wave dial
Cellini PT glacier dial
Daytona either TT Panda OR ss/wg slate grey arabic dial

Lange Worldtime
Patek 5130R
Breguet Hora Mundi YG/RG
VC Worldtime RG
GP WW TC WG
JLC Master Geo RG

Two themes, one great collection IMHO

My collection has this theme, two of each and not necessarily all Rolexes.

Two diver watches: Omega SMP 2531.80 and the Rolex 16600.

Two Chronos: Breitling Chrono Avenger and the Omega SMP chrono 2594.52.

Lastly, two Japanese brands: Seiko SKX007 and an Orient day date.

You're missing out of you limit yourself to Rolex, there are some massive holes in their lineup, and to be honest I think even some of the most religious Rolex "collectors" have an Omega Speedmaster Pro or vintage Constellation Pie-Pan hiding in their watch box that they may or may not admit to, there are so many pieces like that that are just shameful to pass up on.

Started with one Rolex but now Rolex (3), AP (2), PP (1), IWC (2), JLC (2), Omega (1), Panerai (2). Still many brands to try out!

I agree that a Sub collection would have a couple of dozen subs without two ever being the same! Subs have such a long history that really allows you to appreciate the nuances of each model... I've been fortunate enough to see some beautiful vintages!

As far as diversification, I'll buy whatever I like. It'll end up being my collection instead of a brand collection.

I know some people don't like the Watch Snob...I kind of like the tongue in cheek humor. I also tend to "collect" this way. Diver, chrono, dress, etc. I also like to diversify brands. Makes my collection more well-rounded, IMO.

I like to collect different brands. The definition of a collection can be interpreted in so many different ways that I wouldn't get caught up in it...

I have recently downsized and have a varied collection of 3 different brands.
1. Rolex Submariner 16610-daily wearer
2. Panerai Luminor Marina 164-love this because of the leather croc strap and the rubber dive strap and all the other straps I keep buying- it can get out of control!
3. IWC Aquatimer Cousteau Diver Chronograph- this is my fun watch.....blue/orange dial on a navy rubber strap! Awesome!

I like them all but they are all very different!

Whilst I appreciate, own and love Rolex, I also appreciate own and love many other makes of watches too. I consider myself a watch enthusiast as opposed to a Rolex enthusiast.
