That which is gaudy in Wisconsin might be de rigueur in Miami Beach. Prolly an "eyes of the beholder" issue. I see Diamond Daytona's around Road America at the races.

I have a friend that has a YG Day Date with diamonds on the bezel and dial. I feel it is a bit much at times and that generally his day date would look nicer without them. YG by itself makes a statement and to add the additional statement of diamonds is wholly unnecessary. But over all I have no problem with diamonds on a watch dial or bezel. I think if you are going to go with diamonds it should be WG or SS. In any event, I have seen blinged out GMT's with diamonds all around the bezel AND the lugs. It looked Horrible. Also diamonds have no business on a men's bracelet IMHO. Ever.

do you.
It all depends on what looks good on your hand. I personally like diamond dials but only on certain models. Don't worry about what people say as long as it looks good and you are happy with what you are wearing. After all its a Rolex you cant go wrong with that.

Good Luck.

It sounds like someone is jealous to me. I am not into diamonds on watches but that is only a personal preference. I think watches look great on other wrists though and it is definitely not too flashy.

The Rolex name alone is enough to turn some people into haters. Been there before, and feel for ya, but at the same time it comes with the territory. Some admire the brand, and some draw conclusions about those that admire it.

Have no issue with diamonds whatsoever(own both a diamond ring and earring) and imo a diamond 'dot' dial on a DD or DJ looks fantastic and helps the dial 'pop' more. I do agree that diamonds look better on WG than YG though.

Oh and it should be remembered that diamonds were once considered only fit for kings.

I don't like my watches to have diamonds, but I don't consider all watches with diamonds to be gaudy.

Some are, but some are quite stunning in their beauty.

It sort of depends on who's wearing the watch. Some watches look gaudy or worse on a man and exquisite on the wrist of a beautiful woman.

It's rude to call someone else's taste gaudy, unless they are asked for an honest opinion.

My DJ has Diamond markers and I love it! It is my dress watch so a little bling is not unwelcome. It also looks amazing in SS with WG fluted bezel, jubilee dial, and jubilee bracelet, excellent combination!

IMO, guys can wear diamonds under the crystal without a problem but the line should be drawn at diamond bezels or anywhere else on the watch...

i wouldnt call a watch with diamonds gaudy, but rather feminine :)
if done elegantly, diamonds on a mens watch can be very nice. there is one watch with diamonds on the dial wich i worship. its the PP 3970. such a classy watch. but otherwise i prefer my watches diamondless

No i'm not fussed on diamonds on mens watches either, on the dial or case. My late father in law had a DJ II champagne/diamond dial, nice watch but a bit too blingy with the diamonds.

I don't mind diamonds on a ROLEX. I just cringe when the diamonds are gaudy after market ones, set/mounted in numbers to the point where it overtakes the watches original design

I've never had a negative comment about my Sub. I bought this watch for more than one reason, diamonds just happened to make it that little bit sweeter of a deal.

This may sound blunt, but I'm more than confident enough to laugh off peoples opinion to what I choose to tell the time with on my wrist. I'm sure we all have more pressing issues in our lives

You be the judge, I promise to respect it

Obviously there's no pleasing everyone. Your watch doesn't strike me as overly ostentatious, and like you I'm not a flashy diamond guy either.

I personal like diamonds in the right Rolex, Datejust, Day-Date. I'm not necessarily a fan of diamonds in the sport models. That's my 2 cents.

I'm not a diamond guy but hey, it's your watch on your wrist. Wear whatever you like and if somebody doesn't like it, well, you know what they say about opinions.
