I'm not so sure. I don't think that most people truly know the significance of a Rolex. They may know that they are expensive, but not know the significance. By significance I mean such things as the first water proof watch maker (oyster case), first perpetual movement, first watch with date function, and so on.

My dad is on his 3rd and I think he is stuck with my mom, 6 boys and 28 years. He finally got it right!

I heard something like if the 1st marriage ends in divorce - the 2nd one ends even faster because your not going to put up with any sh*t, and then the 3rd is supposed to be the charm

My friend told me that the other day. I have a solution to that - DON'T GET MARRIED

Sometimes with the "instant recognition", it makes me feel a little uncomfortable. My trip to Tokyo last week attracted some attention from some people.

It is indeed very recognisable, except for the Fake Daytona that the guy across the table was wearing.

No, that is one of the reasons I rarely wear the Rolex. Don't need others to "know" or "think they know" more about me than I care to tell them.

I don't know how you guys can tell a fake from a distance. I'd have to inspect it closely, hell, I have a hard enough time picking out the sport model Rolex's from a distance.

I think it would be flattering for someone to notice my watch, but I don't think its ever happened. I comment on other people's Rolexes sometimes if I see someone sporting a nice model.

I have two WIS in my office. One spotted the Sea Dweller in fairly short order, the other spotted the GMT in fairly short order. Other than that, most folks in my opinion give very little thought to watches and wouldn't know my watch from any other brand.

By comparison, I'm not a big car nut, so when someone has a tuned road racer, I don't notice this or that modification unless its pointed out to me. Its the same for any special interest.

I wear my Rolex because I appreciate having a timepiece that will tell me the time with style and reliability for the rest of my life. I don't wear my Rolex to to be noticed.

Depends on the situation.Mostly,no,I dont really care for it to be noticed,I wear it for myself.Anyway, most that take notice, dont realize its a Rolex, for them its just a nice looking watch.

However, the Blue is my "business watch".When I meet attorneys, town planners, developers etc.,then the Blue means business ...

Now that is very wise Daren, and unfortunately its getting that way in the UK.In some parts of the UK if its not bolted
down or locked secure, chances is its going to be nicked.

No one sees my Rolex since I wear long sleeves now. But if I leave my fly open I am sure to have a recognition factor!

I'm such a fan of the Rolex sport line, anyone who notices one on my wrist, that I am aware of or that I see taking notice, usually has one himself. It's almost as if Rolex sport line ownership is fraternity or club. You have one, you are accepted in as a person of (with some margin for error) great taste and style and when in the presence of other sport owners you don't have to say anything, just recognize the others.

My 5 closest male friends, who come from different parts of the US, and who I know in different circles, all wear SS Sub-Date Rolexes. One fellow even has a vintage Red Letter Sub, and also wears a Bell&Ross Type Demineur.

You would think the LV with its green would get noticed, but I've only had one person that wasn't Rolex affilated mention it and I'm not sure if he even it was a Rolex.

Than again, I have noticed Rolexes on other people but never mention anything to them.

I'm sure JJ loves people to notice, I love the shot of he and his mate looking at the audis and porches.

It's like look at my rolex and my mates rolex .......oh yes that's right it's a porsche behind me. (all in fun JJ)

I've only had one person comment in 2 years of having a roller, I've had people have a glance, but that is it.

JJ you think people in NZ wouldn't know a rolex try Tassie, one staff member said what's that funny looking thing on top of your watch is the face cracked? no that is the cyclops for the date!

mine are gold and for the most part on straps so

people usually don't notice...and when they do, it is usually a Rolex owner who is interested in seeing the watch on a strap instead of a bracelet. If someone notices/comments on my watch and they don't seem to be watch enthusiasts, I tell them my watch is a fake Rolex. That usually makes them nod "knowingly" and go on their way. I did sit next to a guy in a movie theatre...he was wearing a new Day Date on an Oyster bracelet...worn very very loose in the new take on being "casual." But he couldn't keep his eyes off my 45+ year old 1013 on a strap. Such is the lure of "vintage."

I have to say that i chose mine as its not an in ya face kind of watch.
Pretty understated and thats how i like it.
If someone notices then fine but i don't wave it under peoples noses.
Although i did feel a little smug when my brother saw it.
He bought a beautiful '69 omega. Real classy. I'm sure he thought i was going for the full house brick on the wrist so when he saw my little 'date' he was a bit gutted.

I am STILL biased about buying either the Submariner Date or the SD. And thinking about it, I must admit that the cyclops does add to the attractivity in terms of recognition factor....also for me. But then again, I think the cyclops is not that smart a feature at all. It really does blurr the date when looked at from any other angle than from straigt down on it, AND it also blurrs the viewing of the precise time.

Furthermore, and I do not know how many of you know this: The cyclops is made of MINERAL glas! Being (glued) on top of the sapphire crystal it is very easily exposed to take nasty scratches (I have tried that once with a Sub Date I owned).

I would like to hear your replies on this
