I'm afraid there was no real sentimental date. I decided I didn't want to wait three more years untill I turn 50(my wife thought that would be a good time to get it). My feeling was why wait-I can get a few extra years of enjoyment out of it).

It's a great idea. I think I'll have my Milgauss done.

Here is my Sub 16610 that was the 1st place trophy for the International Rolex Regatta. The watch was engraved by AH Riise in St Thomas. Its not as ornate as the engravers link...they are incredible...but its very cool and adds to the sentiment of the watch for sure. I love this watch and everytime i look at it not only do i enjoy the fact that its a Rolex but also a great reminder of our win and awesome week racing in the Caribbean! The presentation box is pretty cool also.

That is very special. Doesn't matter if it isn't ornate- it is a one of a kind piece with a special meaning to you for your accomplishment. Congrats!

Is that a phone number and birthdate?
Almost looks more like a stamping than an engraving. Certainly makes it easy to ID

Funny how those two are for 13 and 17 years. Must have been retirement or something ( lucky ducks- most people on retirement don't get a rolex these days.

These engravings are a real treat...making each one uniquely personal... and that engraving site is truly incredible....thanks for sharing

When I get around to it, I'll definitely post a photo. Most don't seem to have much interest in personalization, but I'll never sell the SD, so why not! And, I agree that the personalization makes it extra special when it is time to pass it on.
Your case back came out great.
As a lover and wearer of tattoos, I would suggest that you have this done on your skin. As much space as you like and if you find the right artist, a masterpiece to boot. A great design that has meaning to YOU. Would look great.

Just a thought lol Tell me to piss off and mind my own business if you want

I'd have thought, if he'd wanted to get inked, THE NAVY would have been the time and place to do it!

Or were you in when officers still couldn't have tattoos Dr. Brian?

I like my skin the way it is, definitely not an ink kind of guy. Though, I would have gotten a trident, if I had gone that route.
I'm happy to have someone deface my Rolex though.

No room on a watch case back. As lover and wearer of tatoos, this needs to be on your skin my friend. Wear with pride as you have earnt it

I'd have to say that a Rolex ages better than skin, so a fifty year old engraving likely looks better than a tattoo fifty years later! (a watch case doesn't sag, stretch, or get hairy!)

If he can put this in the space of a quarter:

He can put my little crest in the space of a nickel.
The level of detail is truly amazing.

He'll have to scale it down a bit though.

Randell was a pleasure to deal with and a professional in every aspect of the word.

The choice of engraving may not seem very personal, but it is to me. And suits the ExplorerII quite well, I think.
