My 16710 was noisy afer 4.5 years.
My 16710 (GMT-II) purchased new in August 2006 started making a strange noise when its internal auto winder rotated fast, after only 4.5 years. It's now at the dealer for an overhaul. Visit to dealer caused me to purchase a 116710 ...

Well prior to about 2 years ago one of the oils used in Rolex service was Microgliss D5 this was a part organic part synthetic oil, well it had a shelf life that no one new and what would happen is the oil in the container would get stringy so the use was discontinued. I used to use it and one day before I knew it goes bad I openned the jar and it was all black and stringy it happenned in a matter of weeks since the last time I used it. Oils on the above lists most have been replaced with newer sythetics. So for me 5 to 7 years between services and every 2 years for watertests IMO Rikki
