Wow!! Thanks all for the continuing great feedback. Very kind.

The wife got to see the watch for the first time this morning and she *loved* it. She went so far as to say she preferred it to the Explorer II she got me last year for my 35th birthday. I told her that it's "not a competition" and that I like them both equally for different reasons, but, in my head, I thought, "well, you're not saying 'THAT'S ENOUGH', so, maybe the door is left open a crack for future acquisitions".

Congrats

Cru-

Welcome to the 164 club. I am a proud owner as well and luv it! I am partial to the brown croc myself as that is the strap that gets the most time. Although with summer coming on in Boston I may be switching to the OEM rubber dive strap soon. Although I did just place an order with David Lane Design for a French Military tan strap, it will look awesome on this watch.......8-10 week delivery! I have also purchased an OEM black calf with off white stitching and a Panerai OEM tang buckle, that looks great on this watch too!
Wear that new 164 in good health and best of luck strap shopping!

thanks!

yeah, i'm letting the newness sink in a bit before looking at other straps. the OEM brown is just perfect to my eyes, so, i'm not in a rush to change things up. but, please post pix of your 164 with the new straps when you get them (setting myself up for trouble, i know ).

Thanks so much. Yes, for me, part of the appeal is the rarity of the 164. Mine is almost at the end of the M series (1,500 pieces for 2010).

Thanks very much, your comments are much appreciated.

I tried out the rubber strap over the weekend. It's fantastic!

It was a little tricky getting the pointed end in the deployant clasp, but, once in, it was very comfortable and looked great, IMO. And the quick change system is so smooth and easy....Really designed for a clutz like me.

The quick change system is ALL the money

It's not only the comfort and the speed of the process but the absolute luck of scratching the watch, which is inevitable with the other way and the frequency that everyone changes straps to Pam's .

From now on when i post the 5 reasons for someone to buy a 312, i 'll add a sixth, the quick change system

Cya Cru....
