I finally chose the DEEP SEA becoz:

1) I was out to purchase a deep dive watch, and I am very impressed with the super engineering behind DEEPSEA, and the feeling of that the concept, research, technology and touch on my wrist is stronger than the SD.

2) I have a Sub-date in my collection which already represents the Rolex history for subs and SDs for me. So DEEPSEA thus will still epresent the SD line for me in my collection

3) The price I was offered was quite unbeatable, given the price increase.

4) It just looks good on my wrist!! (yes, no modesty here!)

I have also found a few details which made my attracted to the DS more as I wear it now:

- the domed crystal is an absolute beauty! that Subtlety and Shape, shouting Sexy!
- glad to have the bracelet links all brushed hairline finished, unlike the daytona or GMTiiC with a mirrored center link, which retains this DEEPSEA much more tough and tool watch look.
- the Titanium backcover gives a warm touch to the wrist, very neat detail, not to mention its practical purpose as to allow the watchcase to get tighter as the pressure builds, making it more indestructible the deeper it goes!
- carrying this piece of art and science work on my wrist is certainly comforting, knowing it is for sure of the top 3 deep dive watch in the world!

Congrats on your latest timepiece! Definitely can relate to how you feel. Personally, I'm looking down at mine every 5 minutes or so here!

here goes couple shots of the watch on the wrist at the valve angle. it doesn't look too huge , but of course much thicker than the other Rolexes.

I did compare it with my AP ROO, and the top thickness is not so different, nor the weight of the watch. I have to say now that I have it, I regret not getting it early when it first came out!!!

You did the right choice. the new Sub-C, DSSD are SO much better than the old Sub's, SD's...which might have been good for a 3000USD watch. But no more than that I'm afraid..

Don't get me wrong. I would like another 16610 and 11660 in my collection and kick myself for not buying one back then when they were priced accordingly. Now they are just too expensive :-(...

Rolex HAD to upgrade the watch and not only the price every year

Enjoy your watch in good health. I opted for a Daytona in white for the dress shirt, and have my black Sea Dweller for casual affairs. I just can't get on board with the DSSD, but the redesign distinguished it from the sub, and allowed Rolex to increase the price beyond that of the sub while at the same time, reviving a dead model. It was marketing brilliance, and I deeply respect that. I wonder if and when they'll evolve the Daytona more. Maybe the next dead cat bounce will be the Milgauss in 65mm?
