I'd love one, but not for 8K....it's a bit much.

I wonder... and I heard this might happen... that Rolex is going to restrict deliveries... try to make it artificially inflated like the SS Daytona craze. Anyone else think this might happen?

sounds like an AD is putting the hard sell on you, paul.

i don't see why rolex would do that....all it'd do is put money in the pockets of re-sellers. plus, the pricing of it is restricted by the GMTIIc and SubC, in the sense that rolex will never price the Explorer II above those models, so, restricting supply would only cost rolex money.

I was at an AD yesterday (M----S) and he said the same thing, only by order and how only 11% of all Rolexes are destined to the US, etc. He knew I wasn't buying so it was just conversation. He also mentioned the proverbial price hike at the end of sept/beginning of oct. Who knows....

Yes that's the way I feel.

IMHO Their prices are getting outrageous. I understand that there are pople willing to pay the higher prices throughout the world, but pretty soon people are going to feel they are just over-priced.

Usually, when the price on something is raised, you expect quality to go up. Not that Rolex watches are not outstanding quality, but Jesus, the watches sitting in the case just keep getting more and more expensive by the quarter

Thought the old expy was perfect and a good stealth Rolex. The new 42mm Expy might be following the norm of BIG watches nowadays, but hey I'd stick with my ol' one anyday.

I called my AD in April to get on the list for one when the watch was first shown. Can't wait for the polar to arrive! It is expensive, but I plan on giving it to my son one day. You can't beat the quality, so ultimately I think its worth it. I chose polar because the hands really jump out, I find the black face, while very sharp, seems a bit more muddled due to the phantom effect of the hands and less orange on the freccione.

I really need to try it on first to see if there is a big difference with the 42mm compared to the 40mm. I don't want something too big on my wrist.

I don't care for it. Then again I've never been an Explorer fan. And then we get to the price, $8k, are they out of their minds.... No way that watch should be the same price Sub-C and GMT II-C. I'm sure it will be a nice watch but for $8k I will buy something else.

I've one on order (black faced) but wether I keep it or not all depends on how badly I want it.

If I buy it at £5k+ I've gotta wanna marry it tbh!

Yeah that's how I feel. I thought the 41mm datejust was a bit too large for me but I'll have to see what the 42 looks like.

My AD is suppose to give me a call when they are in, looking forward to see how it looks on the wrist. 42mm definately sounds big, but from the 40mm explorer, it wore much smaller than a sub-c or gmtII-c. So i expect the 42mm explorer to wear the same size as the 40mm sub-c and gmt-IIc due to the fact of it having a thinner/flatter bezel.
