I don't know...for me - without the engraved chapter ring - I would feel like I over paid..

It seems like an older watch --

I paid only 7200Canadian$ for a 116610LV and I know I can do better than that today...

If I was sold a new Rolex I would expect it to be new... otherwise, I would insist that the dealer be honest about it being "new, old stock"

At the same time, whenever I drop a few thousand on a watch, I am usually very obsessive compulsive about the product...

Let's face it - some of us have spent more ona watch than many people have spent on cars, and you can be sur ethat they are test driving and inspecting the car before laying down the money...

But, having said this, you shouldn't have to live with it if it bothers you.

Many people are saying that you should be happy, and are expressing one opinion, you should be aware that others will have a differing opinion, if this bothers you - make it right. If it doesn't (and there is no reason why it should) - then enjoy your Rolex for what it is... a gorgeous enviable watch that will last forever - no matter what letter is attached to the serial...

I suspect that the whole 'random' serial number is a way for Rolex to appease Dealers and avoid this kind of instant Date recognition...

Everyone is just jealous of you getting a never worn LV with a 2 year warranty!

Although...
Don't ask me what I paid for a NIB at AD LV in August...You'll be mad!

I got my Lv back in 2008. I asked for the rehalt version and got them to order it in as it was not in the case. It is an M serial. I have seen older stuff in the case before. It seems normal that it might take a few years to move stock but 5 or 6? I don't know like others said enjoy your new watch.

Well...with something like this I really think it's up to the consumer to check things out. An AD near my place had a D serial Expl. II sitting in their case last year. When I asked about it they claimed the serial has nothing to do with dating but I suspect they didn't know what I was talking about. AD staff most of the time doesn't know what serial a particular watch is from so if it's a big deal to you, it's best to check before buying...I always ask. As long as the watch is new, they are in the clear.

The thing with retail pricing is tricky though because of the constant price increases. That same AD I mentioned has a M serial Expl.II listed at $6950 which is crazy. The new Expl.II is $7750...$800 more. They claimed price increases from Rolex...but to me that's a tough sale.

Yeah I'm not unhappy with the watch, The green is a great color and I can't see why anyone would pay extra for an LV and go and put a black bezel on.The watch seems to be keeping decent time ,Seems like the price on these things are going up daily

That is strange about the serial number though. You would not expect an LV to sit around that long. Buyers remorse is a Biatch but if it looks new, smells new, and feels new it must be new. I say have a couple of shots of Tequilla and enjoy your purchase.

Nothing at all to worry about. In fact quite the opposite - I would be delighted at finding a new LV

Yeah I'm with you...but that's what sucks about the price increases...the ADs take it upon themselves to take advantage whenever possible. The AD doesn't pay Rolex the difference on stock they already have when Rolex issues a price increase...or do they? I doubt it.

I'd be very happy with your purchase dude. These are discontinued so you were very lucky to find one at an AD. It's a keeper.

I wouldn't service it for at least for 5 years probably longer as long as it's keeping good time.

I bet I could find something wrong with every watch purchase I've made. I try not to worry, but I know how you feel. In your situation I would move on and focus on how awesome your watch is, and just enjoy it for what it is. Congratulations!!! You did well.

I have both 16610LVs.......One with an engraved rehaut, and one without. I honestly prefer the one without the engraved rehaut.

If it were me......I would be EXTREMELY happy. You got an AWESOME watch.

I bought a new IWC where there was not a model change and got a good price. It turns out it had been sitting in the case for 3 years. I wore it two years and it stopped, it is at IWC for servicing for the full servicing fee. The same thing happened with an Omega under warranty and they gave me a new watch.

Yeah, you have to watch the manafacture date, an old watch may need premature servicing and servicing is not cheap.

In 3 years that watch will have 8-10 yr old oil in it. If it isn't an everyday wear then yes I can see a longer interval but not if he wears it all the time.

Seems to keep good time about 3 seconds fast per 24 hours.

I guess I'll have to eat the service in two years.

Does anyone here think I should talk to Rolex about this?

I would be perfectly fine with it if it was me. Big deal if it is a D, new is new, and the Oils are not going to "dry up" sitting in a dealers case. You have a new watch with full warranty.

I'm one of those who believes that you are lucky to get a brand new watch without the engraved rehaut and a "salty" serial number.

You have a new watch with a full two year warranty.

If it needs service, or even just a regulation in that time, it will be covered.

Rejoice!

See if you can work something out of the AD...

I would not be a fan of the Rehaut engraving - unless it was on a watch that had it when new - i.e. a GMTIIC or new model DJ.

Did you not suspect something when you saw the old school paper warranty papers Vs. the new plastic Credit Card warranty???

I might be tempted to try to get the AD to pay for a service. It may put your mind at rest a little.

It's about impossible to find one in NIB condition from an AD. Congratulations and even it was NOS, it's just lucky to find one

what do you want Rolex to do about it?

all they can see is - the AD offered you the watch for purchase, you bought it out of your own will.

I personally think it is a great pick up, rehaut or not. Isn't the earlier serial has a darker shade of green?

I think you have got a great deal - BNIB example of a discontinued watch bought directly from an AD with 2 year warranty. Well done and enjoy your new watch.
