I was in the same situation, i stuck with the base models because you just cannot go wrong. I chose the 111 and have not looked bad since, I must admit I have looked at the Panerai several times for a date and realise I wasn't wearing my rolex. But like you said, you carry for iPhone around everywhere.

Once considering between 111/112 and 312..end up with 321. I got a great deal for this brand new 321 hard to pass. Love the 1950 case which I initially thought too tall for my wrist. it's taller but fits nicely on my 6.75 inch wrist. To my eyes 1950 case gives stronger presence than basic luminor case. Similar situation when I traded in my GMT IIC for Sub-C. I don't really follow 'common rule' watch sitting lower better than a taller watch. Most of the time I roll my shirt sleeve. Hot wheater here in tropical country. When I don't roll my shirt sleeve, by the way most watch won't go under my shirt sleeve because all of my shirts have tapered cuff :)

Try on 1950 case..spend quite good time at your local AD to see whether you'd like it or not.

I'm loving my 312. The 1950s case is very comfortable.

Adding to the collection

As mentioned earlier I wanted to enclose a couple of pics. First I'll show off the Sub and the PAM 112. You'll notice Greg (Mosco) threw in an extra OEM brown croc strap in addition to the black calf and rubber strap!

I already swapped the brown one in, I can see how straps could become addicting.

First a random Submariner shot from the weekend before hitting the gym and then the PAM 112 on its first ride home from the office

Cheers,

Ryan
