I don't think the Milgauss was ever "popular" by the masses but sought after more for a time because it was rumored Rolex was only going to make the GV for a limited time so people thought they were going to be an instant collectible. Didn't happen and many paid a huge premium for them. Oops..

But they are a cool watch even though some find the lightening second hand a bit cheesy. I like them and almost got my wife one because she works around strong magnet fields on occasion in the medical equipment business.

Lack of a date kept if off my interest but enjoy yours in the best of health!

I just bought my first rolex, a GV, so I am definitely biased. That said, to OP's comments - I was at an AD here in NYC (one of three) who said it's been impossible for him to hold on to a new GV for more than two weeks, at most. He said it is still a very popular watch with financial district buyers, and he's been seeing them go in the secondary for $9,500. He didn't believe the price I paid for mine, more than $3k under that amount!
