I think the story here is that JJ still gets that feeling every time he straps on a Rolex even after being in the Rolex camp for 30 years. I hope after 30 years I will still get that same feeling, somehow I think I will.

Good post. I agree with it. I've owned my ss/platinum Yachtmaster for 6 1/2 years. It was the only Rolex women's watch style that appealed to me. I never liked the traditional Oyster datejust. I have worn it with business suits, formal gowns, and ultra-casual clothes. It goes with all of them very well.

I was wondering--some Rolex owners tell me they won't shower with their watch (or wear it in a jacuzzi) because of the high heat of the water, something not encountered in the ocean.

Any thoughts out there?

There have been many threads that address this and I believe there was one within the last couple of days.

If you can handle it then your Rolex can handle it. Nothing to worry about there!

I have to wear suits for a living....My uniform. It is not "dress up day" for me to wear a suit. And I agree, any Sports watch is fine with a suit. I like my Sub and GMT just fine.

I'm speechless......you took the words right out of my mouth.....your rolex is there to WEAR and wear hard. I've got mates who wear two thousand dollar suits with shitty "armani" or UJWs.....

My RSC was like, "so you're going to wear this everyday, right?" and I said, "ofcourse", to which he replies, "that's great to hear - too many people buy these wonderful time pieces and are afraid to BREATHE on them.....

So c'mon people - when you wear your rolex hard all it's gonna say to you is - "Is that all you've got, punk?"

Actually, if the watch is heated through hot shower water or, more likely, by lengthy submerssion in a hot tub and then submerged in colder water, such as jumping into a pool right form the hot tub, I have been told that the water resistant ability (rating) can be compromised, albeit temporarily.

I'd be more than willing to test this............it'd have to be pretty damn HOT to COLD water to cause that much shift in the steel/rubber sealing.

I agree. In one of my Rolex books, there's an ad where Rolex put the watch in boiling water and it came out fine.

Of course, they didn't follow it up by then tossing it in the freezer, but if you're instantly jumping from 100 to 0 degrees Celsius the state of your watch is probably the least of your problems.
