Unless you'll be of the coast of Somolia......I think you'll be O.K.

Wear it and enjoy it! I've worn mine there many times with not one issue. Mine are all insured of course.

Agree 100% if you are considering another watch purchase.
Bring a plastic Casio or other inexpensive watch for poolside activities.
Some of the cruise ship ports offer attractive prices with a little negotiation.

I would take whatever watch/watches you want to take. I have worn a Rolex and Cartier in the Carribbean and never had a problem. As lots of others have said, there will be plenty of other Rolex wearers with you!

Think what would happen if your attacked and you didn't have a rolex to give them!

By all means, wear it and enjoy it! As others have said, I have no doubt you will see many others onboard with high end timepieces. I've taken different Rolexes on vacation (including cruises) and have never had an issue. Mine are insured of course.

Went on a Caribbean Cruise last year. Took my Sub (wore it to the "private island" and on board the ship). but also took along my Victorinox Divemaster 500 for the other islands that were a little sketchier.

Never understood why you wouldn't wear it. I've been off the beaten path to secluded beaches and now even some of those have vendors trying to sell tourists crap. I think many people are doing it now and I've never felt threatened off the ship.

wear a seiko or citizen diver off the bay for about $150 and use it as credit to trade with local merchants. got a nice leather messenger bag and 200 gar cedar humidor in the DR 2 years ago with one. saved over $400...

(serious, there's gangs of rolex thieves on the isl's?).

I just finished going to all of these islands a month ago. I had no problems sticking to areas we felt perfectly safe, and had no issues whatsoever wearing my Rolex. I also didn't notice any others having any issues with there's either.

Besides all of these islands sell watches which where much more expensive than the one I was wearing.

Saw some of the largest selections of Pateks, Audemars Piguet and many many others for sale on these islands.

Just use your common sense and you'll be perfectly fine.

If you are going on a cruise all you will likely see and experience are overly touristed traps You will get none of the local culture...but then that's what some folks want.

As a result of the forgoing you will likely be "safe" around the masses of tourists bargaining for Tshirts and carved souvenirs...unless you wander off.

BTW, Insurance is great...unless of course the guy robbing you thinks it's far easier to take a Rolex off a corpse.

If you can't afford to loose it or don't have insurance don't take it.

He already went btw... but good advice. Wonder what it takes to "be able to afford to loose it" and never feel a thing. I can always find ways to spend or invest.

Just about anyplace a cruise ship ports is safe, otherwise they wouldn't go there. Of course all places ( just like in the U.S.) have the potential for "danger". If any of the places you're going to have you so concerned as to what you are wearing you probably should be more concerned about things besides just your watch, like your personal welfare.

use your noggin and you will be OK. stay aware, don't wander off alone and follow the general guidelines of being safe.

but absolutely certainly wear your watch. so far, i have been unable to find a place where i would take mine off. and i work in some pretty unsavory places.....i do after all live/work in NJ and we can compare with nearly any bad places in the world.

take it, and dont stray from the pack... they show you where its safe to go etc. Back in the day, you use to be able to buy duty free watches at a fraction of the price... i think you can still get a deal, but the days of real savings are over.

For under $4.50 per month through USSA's Valuable Protection insurance that include loss, theft, or accidents WITHOUT a deductible, I can't imagine not having it. I sleep better at night. That is for $10k worth of insurance.
