Veraet - leaves everything looking bright and unlike soap, does not leave a film buildup or black soot which develops over time when using soap (no matter how well you rinse).

I use Veraet every day with a simple wipe down. Yes, cleaning helps bracelet pivot elongation (explanation at http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=109448)

Some other cleaning methods posted here.

My experiences with Veraet posted here.

In the shower with shampoo; it's formulated to remove exactly the kind of gunk that builds up in a watch band!

I usually forgo the conditioner, though...

Vereat for me. It makes bracelet links flex like silk.

I have not seen the value in special cleaners.. usually warm water and regular liquid hand washing soap removes any greases and dirt without issue..

I do have a small steam cleaner that does a great job on an older piece that may need a good cleaning before looking it over..

My experience with hand soaps, and I've tried a lot, is even with rinsing and soaking in water they leave a residue which attracts dirt and the flex of an Oyter's links is not smooth.

Windex and Simple Green make the links squeak and feel gritty, metal to metal, when flexing.

Vereat doesn't the links flex so smoothly.

Just my experience. And I am in no way associated with Vereat. Just a satisfied consumer.

I realize the OP asked about do it yourself methods, but any AD will gladly steam clean your bracelet while you wait. So why not avail yourself of this service every 3-4 months?

Regarding Veraet: I also have no affiliation with them but man does this stuff make my super jubilee bracelet feel better than new and sparkle so much you need sunglasses to look at it. Go get yourself a bottle and if you don't like it at least you satisfied yourself that it doesn't work for you. I can't live without this stuff, for all my watches, not just my Datejust.

I wash the watch I'm wearing at least once per week.

My Explorer and my DJ bracelets were ultrasonically cleaned by my watchmaker last week and the Sub goes in tomorrow.

It pays to keep 'em clean.

I'm sure it does, but I don't think once a year is often enough to eliminate the wear that causes "stretch."

Just cleaned my GMT II bracelet today for 3 mins with a ultasonic and a couple drops of dish soap
then used verate to finish it off, looks great.

Put the bracelet on backwards afterwards, kinda feels weird but I'll fix it tomorrow.

I was at the AD on Sunday to pick up a watch and asked if they had an ultra-sonic to clean the GMT I was wearing. She said they recomended not to use on because it could cause the oil in the watch to shift from places it was needed. I do not know if that is true, but it is food for thought

That's why you only use it to clean the bracelet

Mike where do you get the solution, I saw it on the web, but was wondering if a store might carry it.
Thanks

Only the bracelet goes in the ultra-sonic. Another clueless AD.

Vereat weekly (or so) and ultra sonic the bracelet every couple months. Works great!

Mine gets washed in the shower every morning -- on my wrist. Once a week, I give it a soft toothbrush cleaning with Veraet watch spray. It really never gets a chance to get to dirty.
