At least she's got an omega on her wrist. A win in my book. Could be much worse. Be happy.

Tried getting my wife into an Omega or Rolex for years, all in vain. She could'nt see past Cartier. For our 20th wedding anniversary I surprised her with a TT Cartier Tank Francaise (mens lg). She was so happy she actually slept with it on the first night.

For the next ten years she wore quartz watches, the Cartier only came out for special occations. In the last couple of years she finally started appreciating her mechanical watch and wearing it daily , but I still have to set the date for her.

On the other hand if she was more into watches my little collection would be somewhat smaller.

There is nothing wrong with a good quality quartz movement. More accurate over the long haul and less to service. I think the AT is a really sharp looking watch, if a bit masculine. Personally I don't think you did a bad thing.

i even offer her to pick up a breitling heritage 38 yet she still dont get it... i think i'll rant over this for the rest of the week...
So, did you want to buy her what she wanted or what you wanted? If it makes her happy, that should make you happy.

I've learn to deeply love mechanical watches and am now looking into buying much more but I still have a little something for quartz watches. I see nothing wrong in having one (or more) in a collection and the fact that it works with a battery shouldn't make it such a cheap movement!

If your wife is happy, it's all that matters indeed. After all, there are much more things to think about than the movement when you buy a watch!

Maybe you should buy yourself another automatic to make up for it?

trust me, she will be more happy with the quartz ...

ok, i am just guessing, but if she just something that's grab-n-go, quartz is the better choice.
