I always keep my papers/boxes and manuals. I would never buy or consider buying one that did not have these "essentials".

in regards to authenticity, I dont think it's something to worry about,
as someone had mentioned, you could authenticate your watch, and 'papers' doesnt always equal authenticity

now, you're a bit worried about what if the previous owner made an insurance claim ... as long as you have the receipt from the store, that shouldnt be a problem (correct?)

and an interesting assessment I made,
due to my career in the educational field - I travel between Toronto, Seoul, Japan and sometimes New York,
I find it interesting that people's view on papers differs in different region,
back home (Canada, US), 'papers' are very revered,
but in my travel in Asia, not so much ... a lot of them couldnt care less about papers

Well the so called Rolex papers are nothing more than a two year warranty card or paper. Many on this and other forums think that these so called Rolex papers prove authenticity .But sadly today with todays technology these papers or cards are the easiest to fake.Perhaps the people over in Asia take condition of the watch as paramount and not a packageing box or in most cases a out dated warranty paper or card.

If I see a watch that is just a few years old without paperwork, I stay away. I have friends and neighbors who have had their watches stolen, and guess what, the thief's did not get the paperwork. There is way to many watches for sale that come with everything, why buy one without?

Now vintage is a different story, completely different. I would buy a 30-40 year old Rolex without papers, but that was a different time and people did not keep stuff like that.

I keep waiting for someone to buy a Rolex without box or papers and for them to get their watches confiscated when they send it in for a service. It has happened before and it will happen again, to some guy who buys a modern day Rolex without the box and papers.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit I've never seen that model of Explorer before. I just might be my favorite. I love the unique bezel.
