Said that, the DSSD may be bulky and heavy for Rolex standards, but not at all by other luxury brands standards. If a woman can handle a 36mm or 40mm Rolex nicely, then the DSSD is the right watch for me. I love its presence and character, weight and size is just perfect for a 7"+ wrist size. Best Rolex watch ever made.

I love mine and it's my favorite watch, but it's probably 1-3mm too thick

Sleddog speaks the same words I would say. I wear mine more than any other Rolex I have. It's a tank and makes a great daily piece. No problem wearing a smaller case before or after.

If you get the DSSD remove the diver link if you don't need it, DSSD wears better without diver link for me.

I love mine and do not have big wrists, but my wrists are flat on top so it sits amazingly. I have heard of people who same wrist size, but very round wrists, never being able to find comfort wearing the watch due to the size/weight of the head who have sold them.

No problem with DSSD except....
The only thing I never really liked about my Deepsea is the bracelet (tapered, weight). For the most part I have my watch on Isofrane or leather, and that's perfect for me. When I wear the DSSD I usually rotate it with my Pam 88/leather (44mm), IWC Aquatimer/rubber (42mm), and Breitling Seawolf Avenger/leather (44mm). When switching back to 40mm or 41mm I do it at night before I go to bed so I wake up with a smaller watch and it's all good. I hope this helps.

Wish the bracelet was a little wider to match the watch. I would say that is the biggest complain from me. Other than that it's a cool watch to own when I had it...

If you have to be talked into buying a DSSD and you are worried that it is too big for you, it probably isn't the right watch for you. Try it on in person, and see for yourself. There are a ton of models to choose from within the Rolex lineup. Good luck!

I have both the DSSD and the SubC. And you know what.... I love 'em both.
I love the DSSD because it is big... And I love the SubC, because it is small. No seriously, I DO!!! |

The DSSD is a very cool watch with tons of presence. I'm a fan of done crystals and no date windows and this is the only current model that offers such a crystal. Now with that said, it's far too thick of a watch for me to enjoy wearing for any significant amount of time. I often wear watches in the 44-46mm range but none of my other watches are anywhere near as thick as the DSSD. I think that a Rolex is best in the traditional 40mm size and for bigger watches I will continue to look elsewhere.

I bought mine last week and would say buy it and forget all other watches. It's comfy when fitted correctly and after you wear it all other watches will seem small and wimpy

I usd to own one.
And plan to get another some day.
I loved owning the DSSD and the only thing that made me sell it was the thickness (height) of the case. It actually wears very well when sized properly but I went through a phase of wanting something more sleek. I actually miss the size sometimes and will likely get it again. Go for it! I think you'll love it. |

Great watch but I find the height alittle to much. I do like the feel of a heavier watch.

Well speaking for myself I would not change my SD for a DSSD if it was half the price.

Really do like mine and glad I bought it at the time. I'm a little more self conscious of it now that it retails for over £8k. although doubt many people would recognise it anyway. It is heavy and takes a little bit of getting used to but still very comfortable.
I read an interesting review of the new RubberB DSSD strap. Now seriously considering buying one despite the obscene price in the UK for them. Add a bit of variation and encourage me to wear it more often. |

Wow! A lot of discussion overnight. I'm thinking it over, and will keep reading your impressions.
Thanks to everyone for the input.

Had mine for 6 months before selling.
IMHO watch is way too thick and the bracelet is way too thin. Now wear my 14060m daily and never miss the DSSD. |

Two things I don't like about it.
1) the curved crystal creates distortion, making the dial seem shallow-- you can't read the "rolex rolex rolex ... on the side of the dial; 2) I like the fact that it is thick, yet, it is so thick I have to wear it outside my shirt cuff, which makes me feel like a show-off sometimes. Here's a picture I snapped while stuck in traffic in a rental car on I-405 near L.A. last Friday. I can't get it under the cuff. |

Hmmm. Definetely looks too big on you, the case is almost the same size of the top of your wrist, I am a XL (17-171/2) shirt size and never had a problem with my shirt cuffs. This isnt a watch for everybody.

I was initially swayed by the allure of the DSSD and bought a v serial! But after 4 months I sold it and went back to Panerai for big watches and bought a Sub 14060m 2 liner. IMO anything bigger than a 40mm shouldn't be on a metal bracelet. They feel just too bulky. The Sub non date is absolutely perfect!

I had one for about two weeks.
My major complaints were: - the weight...it was very top-heavy - visual balance...to me, the bracelet didn't seem wide enough for the dial - the height...difficult to get the cuffs of winter wear over the watch to see the time Overall, it was a very well built watch, and one hell of a nice looking watch. Not my cup of tea, though.

It is. My wrist is 6.5 inches, so you're right, the case is the same diameter as the wrist. My shirts are 15.5" (neck) by 34" sleeve.... so... my cuffs are pretty narrow. I guess the clothing manufacturers give big guys like you much larger cuffs.

IMHO I prefer my 16600. Bought it in 2005 for $4,200, had 1 service, looks and runs great. The DSSD is too large for me, and were I to spend that much a whole lot of watches would be in the running. I took a long look at it when it was first released, but it didn't turn me on.
Just my view. |
