If you need to stay in the 8k range I would go with the SubC. The new Platinum YM is a lot more than 8k so if that is the watch you really want you may want to hold off and save a little more.

Platty YM. It's such a versatile, overlooked piece. It's a dressed up Sub. It's great in casual situation like on vacation in a bathing suit or diving (for 99% of us that don't go passed 100m) and its dressy enough for a suit.

Also the platinum coloring doesn't clash with any color, goes with everything. Plus not every single person with money has one ;)

What about considering a Day-Date? I wear my DD as a all around watch. You can find a double quick-set for 8K and have not only a beautiful watch but have the added value of over 3 oz. of .750 gold! The President is the flagship watch for Rolex and it has the distinction of being a 'gold only' watch. If not the President, then I would get the ceramic Sub.

If you can only own one it must be a DJII.
