I don't think anyone actually knows the true reason and we are suggesting why
Only the EJ group will know for sure. They may have decided to move away from Rolex as they view the prices as too much to sell to the average punter. Shops are going bust all the time in the UK and to have stock sitting in their stores which doesnt sell because Jo public cant afford it due to needing to pay mortgages and bills doesnt help. I wouldn't say I have ever see a Rolex dealer which is so busy that people are falling out the doors. There will be a number of reasons but one of them is a Rolex is to many people a luxury purchase that only happens if they are lucky. EJ may just be going for brands that are easier to sell to stop them going bankrupt. |

I would also add that if anyone, particularly those with a Signet shareholder card, is thinking about making one last purchase is to do it quick as whilst in Bluewater yesterday I did look in the window and it's clear that stock is not being replenished (i.e. loads of gold models and only a couple of SS Sport models). Also noticed that M&W will be opening a store there this month (somewhat coincidentally).

We know the omega brand is disappearing from the higher end jewelry stores in the US. The counter workers claim that US $1000 is the high end since the 2008 recession.
We could only assume that more boutique stores equals more profit as two step distribution is for the lower priced brands as Hamilton, Tissot, and swatch. |

Sorry to hear that they are pulling out of Ernest Jones, means less competition and also as mentioned the Signet card discount seems popular. I get the feeling Rolex are moving more towards boutiques to make the buying experience even more unique and exclusive.

Went into Bluewater and spoke to manager and he confirmed they have pulled out from selling Rolex, however he said they will be selling them till the end of next year. Also said would still be able to send watches in for repair and will still be dealing with Rolex but not selling their watches, so looks like if any deals will be available it wont be till 2013.
