I believe we're all using the "c" to denote the ceramic bezel.

Wow--some beautiful pictures of the GMT IIc! I am impressed with both the SS version and the TT--I like the gold-tone colored numbers on the bezel, for example.

But I think Space-Dweller's request to see photos just might INCREASE his discomfort while waiting for his own to show up. Oh well! Nice photos everyone.

SS GMT IIc has:
  • Block case ("Super Case" is also used as a name for it): Larger lugs, more squarish case style, finer satination of the lugs.
  • Ceramic bezel insert (versus anodized aluminium insert of the predecessor). Plus it's a 24 click version instead of 120 clicks.
  • Triplock crown instead of Twinlock crown
  • Maxi Dial (larger hands and hour markers)
  • Green GMT hand and GMT writing of "GMT II" instead of red GMT hand and white writing
  • AR coated cyclops
  • Cal. 3186 movement with Parachrom Blue hairspring instead of Cal. 3185.
  • Updated bracelet: solid and polished centre links and clasp with Easy Extension link hidden in the clasp.

I think that was about it!

I guess you are right. The waiting time kills me, but it is still not to be able to check back on those beautiful pics every now and then.

Go outside of Atlanta and you'll have better luck. Most of the ADs in Atlanta have lists, and the better customers get first shot at whatever comes in.

Any suggestions? I have checked Jareds in Kennsaw, and Mayors at Buckhead had nothing.

Wow! These are fantastic shots of the masterpiece I am planning to purchase in the spring. Will be my first Rolex, but should be worth the wait . . . I had my heart set on an SD, but the new GMT Master II changed my mind when I compared the two at my local AD.

Bo, those close-ups are incredible . . .

Thanks,
Derrick

On the back of the December National Geographic Adventure magazine there is an advert for the GMTC and the first line states:

The bezel of a watch can deteriorate when exposed to sunlight, chlorinated water and scratches. That is why the bezel of the ...GMT.. is made of ... ceramic....

It then goes on to extoll the benefits of the ceramic bezel as opposed to a regular bezel. It seems to me that this is the wave of the future according to Rolex.

Damn you GMT Master II-C owners and your beautiful pictures! I haven't even received my wife's Rosie or my Bluesy yet, and I am already lusting after this, my future #2 Rolex! I will have to wait another year or 2 until the hype dies down to the point I can get as good a deal on it as I did my others. But with an MSRP of $5,950, I can't justify paying nearly the same for a SS watch as I did for TT Bluesy! The fire has been lit, though - some day I will own a 116710.
