On the contrary, there are two excellent ADs in CT.

APs are just great. I love that you don't see many in the wild unlike Rolex or Panerais.

I used to think the Volcano and Bee were garish with their bright, almost obnoxious, colors. However it's very different IRL vs pictures. While I don't think they're "elegant" or classy, badass is as good a description as any.

Strangely enough, I don't mind those particular colors so much, I guess because they are sports watches and the use of color is symmetric. They are quite large though.

The size of some of the watches is what I don't like, and some of the more strange color combinations. Some of them seem unbalanced in terms of color layout and usage, and/or some are way too large for my wrist...

Once you see an AP in person you will see that they are way nicer than you thought if you had just seen them on the forums. So much nicer i sold everything except two rolexes to get my Diver. I wear the Diver 70% and the GMTIIc the rest. I love the simplicity of just two nice watches (girlfriend wears my no date sub). Life is just simplier. Having the Diver... I dont miss all the ones I sold to fund it.

Sadly I spent the day in CT riding roller coasters and at a haunted grave yard. My GF wouldn't let me take a detour to go looking at APs. She did say soon though :-) you see Rolexes in the wild all the time around here. Panerai, not so much. Only have seen one once. I complemented a guy on his YG day date and we started talking watches. Then he pulled a Pam 233 out of his pocket and asked me if I knew what it was...

Why was he walking around wearing a DD with a 233 in his pocket??

I also have been a devout Rolex fan. I am a blue collar that never collected anything until my son gave me a datejust for my 50th birthday. Well, 10 years later I have done my share of buying and flipping as my tastes became more refined. My last acquisition was a yg DDII, which won't see excessive wrist time but was for me a must have as a Rolex fan.
Probably another reason I have stayed loyal is because I didn't want to contract another strain of watch fever. I even had Oscar the enabler ( I live in S. Florida) get me an AP ROO Panda in a moment of weakness but backed out at the last second.
But everything changed last week. I had met with Oscar about servicing a piece and he just "happened" to have a nearly new AP Roo Volcano with him. There is no way he could have known that black, orange and silver is my favorite color combination. I have heard the term "sing to you" on TRF hundreds of times but had never experienced a rapture like I did when I tried it on. I had seen pictures and seen it described as everything from "garish" to "badass".
Two things were for sure. It is absolutely a piece that pictures can't do justice to. In person it took my breath away. And secondly, Oscar was not leaving with it. So a trade deal was struck and I couldn't be happier. I had read about AP quality and attention to detail but it has to be seen to be fully understood. I'm a believer !

Agreed.. What's funny is the bumble bee in person is like my less obtrusive/eye catching piece due to the all black nature, despite the yellow... Sometimes I'll catch a glimpse in a mirror walking by with hand by my side and it doesn't really stand out obnoxiously... It's so gorgeous though, people who think its ugly have not seen or handled it in person to take its character in

Anyway to get back on topic, I've been bitten a long time ago! AP is it for me, and I've had a lot of pretty sick pieces (still do) just something about them that stir my soul, so special!! 3 and counting
