Steve will do the right thing. He will go through with the purchase or make sure that the seller is ok and sorted out.

A litttle sympathy on your end and not a hard smack would have been nice.

Here is a circa 1981/82 GMT (serial 72XXXXX) 16753 with an 18K/SS band. The second photo is also a circa 1982 GMT with an "H" code band (1983). There were obviously both 14K and 18K Jubilees based on the discussion here. Most of the 16753's that I have seen were 18K/SS when fitted with the Jubilee.

I have a 16753 911xxxx all original with "62523H 18" bracelet also with J 10 - so that would be 1985-1986 for the watch and 1985 for bracelet. By then the GMT had switched over to regular WG plots on dial and 18k bezel/crown. Originally sold by an AD in Pennsylvania.

Don't Pay.
Send ALL communication through eBay not direct email.
Offer seller to "agree" to cancel transaction so he gets his "fees" back.
Advise that you will buy but per his auction you have the "right" to discuss issues before leaving feedback. Tell him the watch is coming back to him...so why waste his time? FROM HIS AUCTION:
If you are less than 100% satisfied with the transaction, please contact us ( 866-581-9555) immediately regarding your purchase, so that we may address any issues you might have before you leave feedback.

Steve:
The insert can be had for $50-ish through watchmaker with parts account. The rest is just as you'd expect from an almost 30 year old watch. If you offered $4800 range, then not bad deal IMHO.

Well, Steve could always use the line my recent "e-buyer" sent me...

"If you won't mail the watch to Lagos, Nigeria just cancel the sale."

We'll, class would be to pay for what you bought and simply be quiet. If this was done by any of you, you'd have received the biggest castigating wallop you could've imagined, but not him, we're supposed to show "class" "sympathy" etc. sympathy is when someone dies for cripes sake not when you pull the trigger so fast trying to get a deal on watch that it makes your head spin. Wow, loyalty is great, but put yourself in the seller's shoes.

Well, we haven't heard from "SteveO" but this sure sounds typical of these
of forums and why I've stayed away for long. I have no problem with money, but for reasons Im not going to go into I need to be anonymous due to my profession, those of you who live in the UK will know who I am but many of our N. American residents might not. So, let's just keep it at that. I thought the everyday world would be filled with good people trying to do the right thing, guess I was wrong. Unbelievable how many wankers we have out the who claim to be Honest individuals preaching right from wrong but then when this happens they curl up in the fetal position and ball.

Looks like the only wanker here is you since you fell for this spoof-of-a thread. Spit the hook out of your mouth before you swallow it!

Unbelievably disrespect shown by you fiat
I don't know wether this is a trick question, so to speak or not, but most if us in watchout and trf in general support each if a transaction is in question with honest appraisals and our best advice, we are sometimes wrong as all humans are including facilitators, unless this is a trick I still don't know, people make mistakes. That is not an excuse for straight out insults of members.
Your behavior is inappropriate IMHO.

For a person who knows nothing about his own inherited watch except that it has a plastic crystal you sure are quick to hand out "expert" advice to others.

Now show a little respect to our leader who provides us with this wonderful platform or hop in your Fiat, hit the road and find another forum.

Looks like Fiat has hopped into his little fiat and the gates have now been permanently closed behind him.

Not the brightest things to say about the owner on a private forum.

There is no reason to consider this a "prank". As far as I can see advice was genuinely sought and has been given.

Further - When we hand out any level of ban we do it because of a clear and often continued breach of forum rules /etiquette and when we see no other option. It is not personal.
