The Cyclops is like a Rolex Trademark. The Date for me is a must!! So, naturally, I'd go with this one!!!

Honestly, I love the vintage 5508 and 5513 with such classic lines that I get the date from my Motorola Razor. I am currently getting my 5512 serviced.

I voted for the Sub Date!
As stated, a date function is very convenient.

I love BOTH. But if I must choose one between 'em, I will go to Subdate.

I forgot about this thread. I just added my answer being the Sub Date, since I bought on this past Feb.

All my Rolex watches have dates, I love the cyclops lense, for me its a traditional trademark of a Rolex watch.
Even though many other companies have used it. The only one that I would have without a date is the Daytona.

I have to say that I'm really, really into the ND. I just think it's classic and a timeless piece. Also, sometimes it's just as well not to know how fast the days are passing by......

No-Date, please. I am not yet in love with the cyclops, although I recognize that it is a super-iconic Rolex "thang."
By the way, we're talking about a "dive watch" right? If I'm diving and I don't know what _day_ it is, perhaps I, um, shouldn't be diving. |

The No Date is the original and "real" Submariner.

It's the last James Bond choice Rolex
Some time ago I made the decision that if it were only one Submariner, it would have to be the Sub Date. Much as I like some of the vintage Subs, none is in the running because they can't match the technology of today; and current Subs strike me as "wanna be's" of the past.
Hope I haven't offended anyone. That is not my intent. If the current 14060M were offered w/out all the lines of text on the dial and no gold surrounds on the markers, my answer might be different. In other words, it ceases to be a plain, working, tool watch as it now stands, but if it were just that, it might be the greatest.

Gotta go with the date. The only thing that draws me to the no date is that Roger Moore's James Bond wore a sub with no date.

Definately NON DATE.
Have had both and the classic uncluttered dial of the non date is cleaner and IMHO makes the watch look bigger. The only proviso is if you only have one one watch maybe you need a date function. If you have more than 1 watch I find it a pain to keep changing the date on the second date watch. Hope this helps. |

Both are excellent. The question you have to ask yourself is: "Do I NEED the date or do I just want it?" If you think it's the latter, then go with the no-date Sub!! Either way, you'll come out a winner!!

ND. The cyclops just gets in the way of reading the time.
