Good approach - make sure you have aspirin ready for day two, and a video cam to make sure you remember opening the case on day one...

Oh, and place a bucket very near to the scene of the crime....

Open it now, your birthday is just an arbitrary day that you happened to come into this world so open and enjoy, hell you could get run over by a bus tomorrow. Pleasure delaying is for Charlie Sheen and look how that turned out! lol!

Even if you bought it from an absolutely reliable source, I would still open the package to verify the content.

Def confirm everything is good. Nothing makes a seller happier than knowing his customer is happy and you'll pleased to know all is well. Then the transaction is complete.
Next thing, I honestly would just wear it. Life is in the present, tomorrow isn't promised to no one.
I kiss my kiddos every waking day I'm home and enjoy life as it presents itself.

Anyhow, a few days out at this point, let's be real you're that age already especially if you round up. :D
Happy birthday. Your Rolex awaits....

Open it and wear it..... The joy will be just as big on your birthday because you know you bought it as a 50th birthday present for yourself...

Okay okay okay okay

I am out of the office at the moment but I think I will take it home; pour a nice drink and at least open it, inspect it put it on for a photo

And believe we have plans on Saturday night So I'm thinking that will be a good compromise and crack it open for then

I advise against this. You'll end up opening the box tonight plastered. With a good chance of damaging the watch.

Be prudent and open the box now!

cheers:

I'm another in the open and inspect camp.

If it happens to also find its way onto your wrist, remember that part of the inspection process is to test it for fit and feel!

Congrats and happy 50th.

Grossly negligent harmful to your finances if you don't open it right away.

If there is no watch in the box and you call the shipper or his insurance days later you'll be looking at one pretty steep uphill battle.

The box looks the wrong shape to contain a watch, You'd better check its inside
