LOL HAHAHAHHAHHA Mike likes how Orchi speaks, Mike has been reading Orchi's posts. Mike has wanted to bring to light how Orchi always speaks in the 3rd person. Mike would like to ask Orchi if he speaks this way in a face 2 face conversation setting.

Orchi really has a way with words. He's makes a pretty good private investigator. That's quite a restoration! Good job Orchi. Looks like you trumped Reckel. |

Vintage is best. An excellent restoration will make it like it was new.

Marko, I've seen some of your collection and if this old DD is authentic and given a workover by you it'll be a stunner!

OK, to uncover the story - as most of you would have bought it...
You detected that it is an original 1803 and not a fake. Well the original pictures I had when buying havent been that quality - although I spent a 4-digit amount. I bought the needed spares ($ 500.-) and went for a day of vacation to my watchmaker. This was the dial looking like: To keep the loading time short I'll post most pictures as links from here on. case rework more case rework movement cleaning shaping the case last action always is manual polishing reassembly before closing the Oyster And here it is: A nice 1803, built in 1967 and sold in 1976! So it wasn't that easy to sell the top of the line watch these days... And as the Rolex registration and paperwork process changed, the dealer didn't fill the buyers registration form, so I got an early version of open papers with it For me it doesn't matter that the day is in French, it is the original language it was delivered, so I keep it like this... Bye Marko |

So, the work wasn't only done on replacing dial and hands, but also crown and tubus.
Disassembly and cleaning of the movement, reassembly and the main work was the case, caseback and bezel... Bye Marko

I'm offering it for sales, but here I have to wait until the 15 days are over.
At the moment the prices in Europe are not attactive to people outside, because of the strong Euro. But as a birthdays-dated watch it might fit a searchers purse In the german Rolex forum (r-l-x.de) they just had a thread regarding the upcomming changes on the vintage market and one of the winners in mid term will be the 1803 and other vintage gold models, because they are somewhat undervalued at the moment. They spoke of 1803 with president bracelet and papers to be over €6K and naked over 4K. Bye Marko
