They need to come up with a lume that charges from moonlight. That would solve a lot of problems with reading it in the dark, outdoors anyway.

I have found out that there is nothing better than intense sunlight...
But once with time, as your lume-ness fades, nothing will charge
it or restore it back to original, except for a dial change.

A small UV flashlight does the trick. The one I have is called an Inova X5 UV and can be had on Amazon for around $35. A 15-20 second charge from one of these, and your lume will be shining brighter than if you took it outside on the sunniest of days.

Well, you shouldn't hold it up close to an incandescent bulb... you might burn your fingers and being that close to the light won't provide any benefit..

The lume is photo (light) sensitive... It excites (charges) in a matter of seconds; so holding it in front of a light source for more than that is not going to wind-it-up like a mainspring...

Is this true? My understanding was the SL doesn't degrade like say Tritium, so it should last basically indefinitely.

That's great! Definitely something I will be picking up. Looks like it will come in handy before a night out on the town.

That cleared up one of mine as well. I have always held it as close to the light bulb as I could. No need now. As usual, Larry is a great source of information.

And welcome to the forum,
OP. :)

I gave it a 30-second charge with my LED flashlight and it does indeed glow very brightly.

I'm wondering if that UV flashlight will increase the duration of the glow compared to the LED flashlight.

I know this is an old thread but I noticed that the lume lasts no more than a couple of minutes on my brand new airking. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it lasts far longer on my sub.

Old thread, but wow. Just wow.

I do think a longer exposure time makes it glow longer though.

Yours didn't come with the little extension cord that plugs in between the lugs?

No, I bought it used without the complete package, lol. And my Apple charger doesn't fit the socket; it's understandable that Rolex went with the Android connector.
