Haters gonna hate. I've had a few negative comments on my Rolexes...most recent was as straightforward as "I don't like Rolex" by a co-worker. It's nice to see their reaction when you agree with them and say something along the lines of..."I completely understand you...Rolex are not for everyone."

You didn't take the bait, which to me, is something straight out of the play book for handling the situation with style and class.

Well played.

Sounds like the Flavor Flay look. Your dignified response displayed the inherent class of Rolex owners.

Good move by you. The sad thing is the relationship. Who would want to double date like that again? Hope she doesn't date him long.....

I likely would have likely said that perhaps one day he might be as fortunate to wear a Rolex as well. I'm sure he made a great impression on his girlfriend. You did well!

As others have said, you handled it well. Hope your girlfriend noticed that you were mature about it and you got some good boyfriend points for it. As for the guy, perhaps he was just trying to start a conversation about watches and got off on the wrong foot. If he truly is obnoxious, I hope you don't need to see him often in the future.

You ...did fantastic "grasshopper".. ( you said you are zenned...lol)

By the way, last Saturday I went to buy and sell watches at the Miami
World Watch Traders show at the double tree MIA airport.
I have about eight 1601's in various forms in stock
but only took 4 to sell at the show ! ...GUESS WHAT...all 4 sold
within 25 minutes of my arrival...as if it was... "manna from heaven"
So I am glad you are the proud owner of one of the BEST classic
Rolex watches ever made...

Everything you said was spot on, except for when you used the word 'bestie'.

Seriously Nick, a birth year 1601 is on my wish list. And you sir, have a nice watch!
