That's a great answer Neil, I'd add Breguet to the lot but you cannot go wrong with those choices.

For best bang for the bucks, JLC offers a whole host of beautiful dress watches. For a lower budget I would look at some offerings from Omega such as Deville or Aqua Terra on straps.

Not an easy task finding a nicer contemporary dress watch IMO

That is an awesome watch!

But out of most people's price range, including me.

JLC is the go to brand for dressy watches on a budget, they even make a perpetual calendar for $20k in SS.

While I love JLC, there are other less expensive options so it would be good to know the OP's budget. For example, if you're not a movement snob, you can pick up an IWC Portofino for under $4k:

Love this movie.

I dont know much about Montblanc.. but the new pep calander for 13K is sure nice.
wish they would put it in a smaller case so the subdials wouldn't look 'squish' in

I disagree, if the DJ is with a fluted bezel it cannot be a sports watch imho. It is a sporty dress watch, but it is a dress watch primarily.

JLC MUT for sure. Also Glashutte Original Senator Autiomatic, or Zenith Ultra Thin.

I have become smitten with the JLC Master Ultra Thin Grande line, specifically the reference 1278420. Hope to be acquiring one for dress in the next year. List of $8300. My understanding is that trusted resellers on TRF who deal in JLC can source an example for roughly 20% off, BNIB. Here is the link to the JLC page:
