Actually, I had Rolex issue one with my name printed on it, not written. I bought a DJ from an AD and it had an already hand dated card (obviously bought and returned), I complained, and they had a new card sent through NY with my name printed with a new date.

The original cert and invoice where for a 'F' serial. you are correct
I had never removed the bracelet before my friend did. Last edited by greggpb; 6 January 2014 at 11:08 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Well if you had original cert and it was F and watch is legit then you should be fine. I do not understand the O serial number nor the card.

So to summerize this you bought a new F series made by Rolex in approx. 06 that they by mistake put an O on and sent it out to a Rolex AD.
6 years later you go back to the AD and they issue a new card with an O serial # that doesn't exist. Forgive me for being a sceptic but I don't believe this. |

A more accurate summation would be: I bought a Rolex assumed to be an f serial in 2007 as all supplied documentation stated so. 6 years late upon checking the serial did not match the documentation, I returned the watch and original document to Rolex and they issued me the following above attached card., with a 'O' serial. ;) |

I wouldn't be worried about what a plastic card has written on it. I would only worry about what serial# is on the watch, that's the only thing that really matters.
What is the serial# on the watch? Only the first 3 numbers or letters please. Last edited by Roller07; 7 January 2014 at 01:23 AM.. Reason: Forgot important info |

The 0 & 5 on the warranty card appear to be spaced oddly on my monitor

Yes, photoshopped? Does the OP have this card in his physical posession?

if there was an "O" it would have come after R, the first lettered serial number (on the way to spelling Rolex R,L,E,X, at that point they decided to leave it out, i assume to avoid unnecessary confusion)
Service cases have started with the number 4 for some time, not sure of how long the practice has been going on, but i am confident at least in the last dozen years. R000000—————1987.5 L000001—————-1989 E000001—————1990.5 X000001—————-1991.75 so best conclusion is your watch is from 1988, perhaps the vintage forum would have more insight… it could be the first example after the transitional 666. congratulations on one of a kind |

Rolex made a mistake 7 years ago and by accident stamped it with an O instead of an F, didn't catch it at their quality control and sent it out to an AD. The AD didn't notice it either but sold it to the OP with F papers. The OP was happy with his watch for 7 years until his friend decided to take the bracelet off and discovered the fatal mistake. Op, now in a state of shock runs immediately to the Rolex AD who contacted Rolex SA. Rolex SA didn't take their falsely stamped watch back but instead decided to give the OP a new certificate with a serial # that doesn't exist thus making this watch a one (1) only in the world. Until now I thought I'd heard all the BS Rolex stories anyone could come up with but I'm inclined to think that this one tops them all. |

O
My friend, the numbers and story don't match. The photo of the card makes it not look real, and as of now no photos of the watch.
You are in CPT and the card country code is South Africa. In CPT there are a very few number of Rolex ADs. All are of reputable quality. Please post photos of the watch or .......... |

In 1947 they used numbers and it was in the 400,000s.
This card is just manufactured counterfeit. |

Seem the Rolex AD has trouble with his eye's and read the serial as OXXXXXX, I took the bracelet off when i got home now(see link)
and the watch is Clearly a 'D' serial which the AD read as 'O' and then passed on to Rolex SA and they issued a new warrentee card based on erroneous information(quite surprised they didn't pick it up).. Seems Like I will have to make another trip to the AD tomorrow to try and get it sorted it out http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/gr...c4566.jpg.html |

Good to hear. why would Rolex provide a warrantee card for a D series. It had a paper warrantee.
Also if the dealer swapped it why would they issue a new blank card. What does the stamped/date side say. Please send a photo we want to know since we never seen this before. |

http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/gr...0Sea%20Dweller A couple of weeks ago I would have agreed with you on them all being quality, I believe the one I am dealing might have a limited understaning of customer service as most of the way through this ordeal it feels like they are trying to get me out of their shop, when all I am trying to do it get the problem corrected. |

I don't understand. In the above photos you have a paper warrantee with F (fuzzy). So why would you even acknowledge the o card warrantee?
The AD maybe playing games ??? |

This puts you in a tough spot if you decide to sell at a later date.
Maybe go to joburg and get a letter from Rolex explaining the whole story. |

.
F serial warranty paper on you pictures are related to a 179173 which is a TT lady DJ 26mm model. AD initially made a mistake when completing your set, and then tried to repair ... he made another mistake printing an "O" instead of a "D" Not a big deal. |
