Live and learn. You'll get a hard time here do to the fact a lot of scammers post their crap to see if it passes. You seem legit. Naive, but legit. Paypal will take care of you if you really bought that garbage

Thanks its kind of embarrassing when your character is in question. Ok paypal have said that if the item hasnt been sent they will cancel the transaction
if it has been sent and it turns out to be fake I have to file a dispute im contacting the seller to tell him not to send the item and I want a refund.

OK called pay-pal and they said if the seller doesn't send the item then a refund is straight forward and quick, the seller replied to my message and agreed to refund and not send the item so thank goodness ive suffered a near miss but not a loss, im going to delete the sellers name from my earlier post because i actually think he didn't know it was a fake because supposedly his father gave it to him but he never wore it because it wasn't his kind of watch so gonna give him the benefit of the doubt... but thank you all for making me aware that this watch is poop.

i will be back with a real rolex next time one which i have bought from a reputable rolex dealer so thanks again people and see you soon.

Well good luck with picking up a legit one...
Post some snaps when you do... Dont sweat the negativity and short answers however... There are some who would rather shoot first and ask questions later.
On the whole though is a great bunch of folks that will teach you a lot

Thanks tablia i will definitely post pics up and just from the amount of replies i had on this issue i can tell this is a community i want to be a part of. ive never been one to get offended or turn nasty because a few words i always like to keep positive because life is not about negativity, and i have learned alot already the seller asked me why i thought it was fake and i replied:

hello i had experts look at the watch and verify that the serial numbers are not real they even said the watch is clearly fake:

1)62523n.18

n.18 means its 18 carat gold but it obviously isn't because its stainless steel.

2)rbgsfrked doesnt mean anything, it should say registered but the people who make fake watches Don't know English very well so they just write anything.

3)snsawabe again this means nothing it should say swiss made.

4) "STAINLESS STEEL BACK DEVILLE SWISS MADE" rolex never has this on the back only a few ladies models had writing on the back but not this.

5)d12 well known date and year that fake rolexes use generically.

believe me im upset it isnt real because i really wanted it and im sorry you have to go through this aswell i hope you understand.

check these numbers out on the internet even take it to a shop im sorry they will tell you its fake.

Since the watch is so very obviously fake. It is absolutely a waste of time the seller doing any thing other than throwing the watch in the trash.

Likelihood is that the seller knew exactly what crap he was trying to offload.

If Ebay cancelled the auction after completion it will be a matter of routine to get your refund. You'll just have to wait the required days before starting a dispute.

There are very reputable sellers on this site so that is an option. Another option is to build a relationship with a local watchmaker/jeweler who deals in used high end watches. This is what I have done. There is no waiting for the watch in the mail, you can touch the piece you are buying, and you can take it back if there is a problem. If they are reputable with a long history in the community the prices should be in line with the going rate. This is the only way I buy at this point. I am lucky in that they are a family business and have been dealing in Rolex's for 35 years.
I have bought on Ebay but will not anymore... The peace of mind you get from being face to face with a seller who has been in business for decades is priceless

Bum deal... I am sure it would work itself out. Tell the seller you do not want the watch and you can file a dispute now. I believe you can go into fleabay and submit a cancel transaction. As Paul said the guy is just stalling... Show the guy the thread if you wish. If he cares to argue about it he will have a great time on here. Multiple collectors and experts have said it is fake and that means it's fake. Period!

It is indeed a POS

So...now that this deal has been reversed, and the PayPal claim is processing, the next thing to do is learn how to choose your next seller better.

You don't need to become a technical expert trying to catch fakes to buy a perfectly good Rolex. Just learn to buy only from trusted sellers who have years of experience buying and selling Rolex. There are many of them in the TRF classifieds - just find the watch you want.

How do you know who is a trusted TRF seller? Spend time in the Who's Who section researching the ones who get repeated positive feedback and then look to see how long they've been here in their forum profile.

If you do this right, then this will be your last thread in WatchOut!!! with the title, "help did i buy a fake?"
And your next new thread can be in the General area with the title, "Incoming!"
