I own SS Sub and TT GMT presently, but the TT barely sees the daylight.(sleeping in the banksafe).
SS is more under the radar imho.

This is my exact feeling about gold and TT.
But I love seeing them...

I have two SS pieces for daily use. When do you wear your GMT? I plan to have it as my "feel good" watch.

at this point you need to take the wis plunge and buy one. if you don't like it flip it. that's the only way. go the safe route and buy a used 20yr old model to start.

FWIW, I have a GMT Pepsi and DJ for almost 30 years and decided to buy a Rolex for my son's 21 B-day (gift that lasts a lifetime). Went to AD, he tried on many watches. Brought him a GMT SS because I felt TT is a little much for a young man. I have never wore TT or Gold before. At the AD, I tried on GMT TT and just loved it. After 2 months of thinking, got a BNIB from DavidSW. Can't take it off my wrist.

Seems like it. And of course. I never buy new now.

At the moment I do not wear my TT at all, and as mentioned, not planning also.
One day my Breitling, other day my Sub which gives me great pleasure.

Hi Sam; Need my kids' help to post photos which means it will never happen. However, your initial pictures pretty much sums up my feeling. I'm a fairly conservative guy and still buy Hickey Freeman suits. The GMT TT is a classy watch, but also sporty. Spent two months looking at AP, PP and Rolex. Thought of getting the President but it just didn't sing to me. Really did not want to get another GMT.
But to answer your earlier question about giving it to your son later on, I would stick with SS.
Cheers, Daniel

Hi there.

I am Debbie and I am in a similar position as you. I have owned SS datajusts for the last 15 years. Currently I have a 116234 rhodium dial, WG fluted bezel. Now I am interested in a TT 116233 silver index dial as I have gotten tired of looking at the rhodium dial and all steel band. Not sure what to do. I just love how it looked on me as pictured here.

What do you guys think of how it looks?

Debbie, the TT Datejust is an iconic, classic watch. You can never go wrong with it and it looks beautiful on you. My favorite dial is actually the silver Roman, but this one has lume, which is quite important for a daily watch IMO. Go for it!!!

Good luck to both of us ;)

Rolex excels at TT, the Bluesy is one of their most iconic watches and I actually prefer that to the full YG blue SubC. If you feel its time for a more luxurious and substantive and heftier watch then a TT GMTc is perfect for you. And as you can buy them at 20-30% off easily, LNIB, if you decide later its not for you, you will lose almost nothing on resale. I am collecting full gold watches right now, but really want a TT Bluesy in future, and as I said above a full YG one as well. Go for it.

Wore my TT daily for a decade, hence the screen name.
Loved it. Very versatile. Pretty low profile too.
Then the full gold bug hit me ;)
Would get the TT asap

Agreed. The TT GMT IIc is too flashy for my tastes. Even as a "feel good watch", I'd rather something more subtle like a WG or platinum piece.

I'm in the same boat with ss subc date and tt gmtc. I wear both fairly equally. However I do wear my sub more during the weekday since it does fly under the radar more in my opinion. The tt gmtc was a wedding gift so I will not sell it but as a daily watch, it works well. Depends on what you do since the gold is a bit softer.

I say go for it. You can always change back if you wish. The 116713 is one of the best TT references in the current Rolex lineup IMHO.

Personally I wouldn't flip for it rather just purchase the 116713 and then you have both

Thank you. You are so kind. I think I will get it. Just waiting to hear back from DavidSW on it because I originally thought I wanted to get the white dial. But once I saw the silver dial I changed my mind and now want the silver dial. I feel it's time for a change from my SS. And you only live once right? I love to enjoy life and the fruits and benefits of my hard work!!!

I enjoy my TT Sub, a bit of pop in color compared to the other two I have. Wears very well in the sun.

My first Rolex, the one I will never sell.

My second Rolex, I love how the gold sticks out in a world full of SS watches. I do not wear it every day, but it is a great feeling to wear some gold from time to time.
