So I know my AP options are done unless I splurge for a RG ROC with a white dial (which to me personally is the best-looking ROC out there). But I've wondered about some of my other watches which are getting less and less wrist time since I seem to be picking the AP pretty frequently. I don't know if its just a phase since it is the newest, or if its a sign of things to come. That's why I was asking to see what happened when others added an AP to their collection. What happened to their Omegas, Breitlings, etc.?

As for Rolex, I wouldn't rule out a return, but I really prefer a date and chronograph right now and have sold both non-date chronographs that I owned and loved (Daytona, Portuguese). But right now my ROC seems as close to a perfect watch for me as possible. The only thing I'd change would be no screw-down chronograph pushers since I use it a lot (same "complaint" as the Daytona).
I think once you upgrade to HH brands and esp HH gold, you often have to consolidate your collection and sell off some of your more mid-luxury brand watches such as Breitling, PAM and Omega. I sold off a couple of these watches to justify buying my gold ROC and very glad I did too, altho I am certainly not a 1 watch guy and still have quite a few pieces and wear them all in rotation, once a week is enough for some of them. I think that is a good balance.

Life is too short not to get the best watch you can

I totally agree - I have one watch...an AP Diver.

If you are going to do it...do it right!

I bought my AP Diver last barely a month ago. Yes, it is getting harder and harder to reach for my other watches, at least for other dive watches such as the SubC LV, the PAM 372, and my '68 5513. The occasional chrono urge is fulfilled by the Daytona and Speedy Pro, but by and large back to the AP Diver.

I don't know how else to put it. The AP Diver has a subdued loudness which only becomes apparent with a closer look... non-threatening, and at the same time non-trivial, something none of my other watches seem to be able to deliver.

That's how I feel about my ROC. I really do love all of my other watches (or I wouldn't have bought them), but when I look at my winders and my choices for the day, I overwhelmingly pick my AP over my two Omegas, my PAM, my Breitling, and my Glashütte Original. I'm not convinced it is the best looking watch that I have, but I keep wearing it. It has made me seriously consider selling my other watches and is what made me start this thread.

That is beautiful! I have always thought I was not a gold kind of guy, but pictures like that are making me seriously reconsider!

I kind of rotate through my watches. At the end of the day, the sub is still my favorite. (Although I also really love my APs.)

I have had a major love affair with AP which I then completely lost, I now have 2 again but will never have 10+ APs again like I have done in the past.

PP was my first love, and always will be.

Well for my financial sake, let's hope I don't catch PP fever. AP fever is bad enough

Solid gold turd or SS AP Grande Complication...

I reckon he would choose the solid gold turd because it's PRECIOUS METAL.

Once you go AP, you never go back?

To get this a little back on track, do most TRFers have their first AP or were they flipped for more expensive ones?

At the end ... It's just a watch. Human born to be bored on anything. You might go back to Rolex again , and flip back to AP again.
But once you own this AP brand, most likely you will stick with this brand forever. Depends on your wallet.

My collection has more AP than any other brands. So I guest AP is my favorite brand. I will still continue to collect AP when the time comes but I will not stop considering other brands also because doing so will be missing out too much. Just my 2cents.

Well I did go to all of the shops here in downtown Chicago and even though a lot of then were very nice, I would still at this point pick my ROC over anything that I tried. And that's a huge plus for my wallet. I'm tempted by the IWC chrono classic and the new Lunar Dust and Glashütte original seventies chrono but I have to wait until late summer at least to look at the last two.
