i know this is a little off topic but am having a bit of problem finding the answer...

what is the 44mm ceramic MSRP vs the 44mm FC that is being discontinued?

i thought i remember a thread a while back questioning the logic of the relative pricing of the ceramic (and boutique vs not boutique or something)

Nope, all material.

Ceramic is much more expensive to work with and is the material of choice over FC for AP moving forward.

44 ceramic can be found at AD's, but I've never seen or heard of one at an AD--they are that hard to find. Boutique MIGHT, might, be able to get you a ceramic 44mm.

That's why I was floored to see DSW had one! I wish I needed one as that price is a killer deal!

I agree the all ceramic would be hot - but, I'm just not a big "all black watch" guy - esp for that much coin. I am leaning heavily towards the SS panda 44 which it think is a great deal comparatively at where grey market prices are today ($23-24k range).

Only reason I was leaning towards a new 42mm model was because I have the diver which means I could swap the Diver rubber strap and the new SS bracelet I recently got between the two.

I think you are conflating a few conversations. There was some question re: the pricing of the ceramic diver (which initially came out at 21-22) when the FC was listing at 27. This I believe was chalked up to the ceramic being boutique only, meaning no discounts.

Neither 44MM (ceramic or FC) are boutique only.

I like my 44MM Steel Novelty so much that I have lost interest wearing the other watches in my collection (Rolex EXP2 42MM, IWC BP 5002, Panerai PAM 005 PVD, Linde Werdelin SPidolite Titanium Blue, vintage VDB 2013 GMT, and AP Diver.)

I am seriously considering selling off my collection and just keep the AP's, or maybe even just the 44MM Novelty.
